Join us this Sunday, June 14th at 6:00 PM, as Carthage VFW Post 7227 hosts our Annual Flag Day Ceremony.

Flag Day is a time to honor the Stars and Stripes and reflect on the values, freedoms, and sacrifices it represents. We invite our members, veterans, families, and community members to join us for this meaningful tradition.

๐Ÿšฉ Do you have worn, torn, faded, or otherwise unserviceable American flags?
Please bring them to the post and place them in our flag retirement collection. We will ensure they are properly and respectfully retired according to established flag etiquette.

Let us come together as a community to pay tribute to our nationโ€™s flag and all that it stands for.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ D-DAY: THE DAY THAT CHANGED HISTORY ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

June 6, 1944

Today we honor the courage, sacrifice, and determination of the Allied forces who participated in the largest amphibious invasion in military historyโ€”D-Day, the beginning of the liberation of Western Europe during World War II.

โš“ Operation Overlord launched along the coast of Normandy, France, where more than 156,000 Allied troops from the United States, Great Britain, Canada, and other Allied nations stormed five beaches: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword.

๐ŸŽ–๏ธ Despite fierce enemy resistance, rough seas, and overwhelming obstacles, these brave men pressed forward, knowing the success of their mission would help turn the tide of the war.

๐Ÿ“Š D-Day Facts
โ€ข Over 5,000 ships and landing craft took part.
โ€ข More than 11,000 aircraft supported the invasion.
โ€ข Thousands of Allied soldiers gave their lives on June 6, 1944.
โ€ข The success of D-Day paved the way for the eventual defeat of N**i Germany.

๐ŸŒบ Today, we remember the heroes who ran toward danger so future generations could live in freedom. Their courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to liberty continue to inspire us more than 80 years later.

โ€œThese were ordinary men who did extraordinary things.โ€

On this anniversary of D-Day, let us pause to honor all who served, all who sacrificed, and all who never came home.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ We Remember. We Honor. We Will Never Forget. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
