As I sit here with my thoughts , we just rolled into Longview North Carolina, we have a place here for a hot shower and nice bed that was graciously offered to us by Piper Smith Stephens. It’s 1:50 am here and we are beat. The last 3 days have been long , rewarding, sad, happy, all kinds of feelings. But I had been hearing rumors of how things has been taking place up here with these citizens and the government. But today I found out the truth and here are a few fun/p**sed off, facts for you to think about come election time. 1. The government offers them $750. But they must apply for it. Problem with this(other than it’s a p**s poor amount) most of them have no way to apply they have lost everything. No internet, no post office to mail it , 2. If they do apply and have home owners, automatic denied. Well in a mountain region why would they need flood insurance so insurance doesn’t won’t to pay, so they are left with nothing. 3. FEMA came to a town of 40k people on a normal day before 1000’s became unaccounted for After the storm for 1 day yes I said that right 1 day. And here is the icing on the cake, 4. Red Cross shows up every day in a lil food truck smaller than my trailer for a couple hours with a handful of meals and it’s one per person and that person is the one standing there, if you have someone at home that can’t get out and come in person well guess what they don’t get a meal. So yes right at this moment I’m p**sed. But I am also grateful and thankful for all the support that has been shown to us for allowing us to come here and help these people. With the help from y’all today Circle H BBQ and friends pumped out between 6-700 hot meals and guess what , if they needed 1 they got 1 if 1 person need 10 they got 10. Seeing this is very humbling and heart wrenching. I personally want to thank everyone for your donations. After finding out they was rationing the food today and seeing it with my own eyes we have decided to go restock in the morning and feed these people another day. I wish I could stay longer and do more but we must return home. I will post ways to donate one more time and then I’m done. I have limited funds and I want to do as much as possible for as many as possible before we have to leave. And just so everyone knows , east Texas was the last to leave tonight from that spot , when everyone else had ran out we was still cooking and handing out. All that was possible because of y’all. Red Cross was there for less than 4 hours today, one other food truck came for about 2 hours this evening with chicken and rice but we started our day today around 8 am and shut the trailer up at around 11:30 ish . Also beings we will be staying one more day to help them the BBQ shop and The Dip Net , will be closed on Tuesday. We will resume back to normal hours on Wednesday. I’m sorry for the inconvenience on that but I personally feel my services are much more needed here than at home where we all have a house and family to return too and food to eat. Much love to everyone.
