Our Logic School students have been learning to write and narrate through the study of fables. Intentional instruction in writing and rhetoric through all grade levels is essential to nurture and develop graduates with strong communication skills who can speak with confidence, write with clarity and narrate what they have learned with wisdom.

In biology, our lesson focused on the variety of cells in our bodies. God has created the human body with 200 different types of cells! Wow! One of these cells are nerve cells in the brain.
Nerve cells send signals throughout the body in the form of electrical and chemical messages.
Unfortunately, when these cells grow older or become damaged, the outcome can lead to problems in cellular communication. This is why we have conditions like Alzheimer’s disease, which is a challenging and debilitating hindrance to normative behavior and function.
Alzheimer’s can affect the sensory ability and functioning of the person afflicted with this disease, impairing hearing, seeing, and tactile perception. Seen here are the students experiencing the task of buttoning a shirt made more difficult with their senses inhibited. Dark colored glasses change the ability to see clearly inside. The constant, static TV sound from the headphones creates a challenge when hearing others as well as oneself. And the use of nitrile
gloves encumbers a straightforward handling of garments. The goal of this simulation was to develop the students’ understanding of what it may be like for elderly individuals who suffer from
Alzheimer’s disease. Additionally, the exercise was designed to help students develop Christlike compassion in caring for the elderly by extending mercy and grace to those with this disease.

Handwriting—and particularly the complex, continuous motor movements involved in cursive—engages multiple sensory, motor, visual, and cognitive systems that support learning, encoding, and recall.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays our upper school ladies bible class begins with ten minutes of quiet cursive scripture copywork. We love this habit of the hands and heart and we pray the Lord uses it to write His Word on the tablet of our hearts.

Our Common Arts class this week was taught by a very talented parent who owns a baking business. Students learned how to pipe frosting onto cake using three different tips. We are so grateful for parents who donate their time and talents to make our school a place where beauty and community are valued and celebrated!

📖 When Bible class comes to life!

Today our students stepped into the pages of Judges—literally! As we studied the story of Ehud and his assassination of King Eglon, our students dressed up in what they thought an assassin might wear to help bring this dramatic account of Israel’s history to life.

Our students are learning that the Bible isn’t just a book of stories to read—it is the history of God’s people, filled with real places, real people, difficult choices, courage, sin, deliverance, and ultimately our need for a righteous King.

And yes… sometimes Classical Christian education means your Bible class gets a little dramatic! 😄

We love giving our students opportunities to see, remember, and understand what they are learning.

“The LORD raised up for them a deliverer, Ehud…” — Judges 3:15
