After a long windy week filled with repeated calls along with some abuse applied to them. The guys took some time out of their day today to have a much needed maintenance day at the station. The trucks were pushed to their limits this week with the fires on the river along with assistance to Elk City, Canute and the Sayre area. All polished, shined up and repairs made, we are ready to roll one more time. A great big thank you to all that support us.

Here’s a reminder of how dry we are in the area. This afternoon we assisted Willow Fire Department on a large grass fire on the river just across the county line. With assistance from the Beckham County Task Force and many area departments forward progress was made of the fire. Carter, Elk City, Canute, Delhi, and Willow remained on the scene for mop up till late into the night and early morning hours. This was a tough fire to fight as access was very limited being it was on the river. Please be cautious in your outdoor activities such as welding, cutting and open flames. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

We would like to thank Jimmy and Tracy Taylor at Taylor Ranch Premium Beef for the donation of their beef snack sticks to the department. They hit the spot today with a structure fire then mutual aid call to Elk City to help with a fast moving grass fire in town and now task force run to Bessie. They hit the spot with a great flavor and are keeping us going throughout the night.

Good Sunday afternoon friends and neighbors. At this time there are no known fires in our Carter, Beckham county area. The smoke you are seeing and smelling is coming from a large fire between Camargo and Vici.
