🇺🇸 OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT — SJJIF ATHLETE SAFEGUARDING POLICY

The Sport Jiu-Jitsu International Federation (SJJIF) is proud to announce the official launch of the Athlete Safeguarding Policy and Protection Program.

Every athlete — from a child stepping on the mat for the first time to a world champion — has the right to train, compete, and grow in an environment free from abuse, harassment, and fear.

This policy represents a major step forward in our mission to build a safe, respectful, and unified global Jiu-Jitsu community, where athlete well-being is not optional — it is the standard.

Safeguarding is not just a rule.
It is a responsibility shared by coaches, athletes, referees, and federations, — every day, in every academy, and at every event.

Through this initiative, SJJIF reinforces:
✔️ Zero tolerance for abuse, misconduct, and unsafe behavior
✔️ Education and awareness as the foundation of prevention
✔️ Clear reporting systems and accountability
✔️ Protection of athletes at all levels of the sport

A Sport Jiu-Jitsu International Federation (SJJIF) tem o orgulho de anunciar o lançamento oficial da Política de Salvaguarda e Proteção ao Atleta.

Todo atleta — desde uma criança que pisa no tatame pela primeira vez até um campeão mundial — tem o direito de treinar, competir e evoluir em um ambiente livre de abuso, assédio e medo.

Esta política representa um passo fundamental na nossa missão de construir uma comunidade global de Jiu-Jitsu segura, respeitosa e unificada, onde o bem-estar do atleta não é opcional — é o padrão.

Salvaguardar não é apenas uma regra.
É uma responsabilidade compartilhada por professores, atletas, árbitros e federações — todos os dias, em todas as academias e em todos os eventos.

🕊️ In Loving Memory of Cleiber Maia 🕊️

With hearts heavy yet full of gratitude, we honor the life and legacy of Professor Cleiber Maia, President of , who passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

Professor was a fighter in the truest sense of the word on the mat and off the mat. One of the main pillars of the SJJIF, he dedicated his entire journey to elevating Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, strengthening our institutions, and building a future rooted in values, respect, and purpose. His final battle against cancer was faced with the same dignity, courage, and faith that defined his life. He fought until the end with honor, unshakable character, and an inspiring spirit.

More than a leader to SJJSAF, Cleiber was an extraordinary human being. A devoted husband, father, son, brother, friend, and an exceptional professor. Wherever he stood, he left love. Whoever crossed his path felt his care. His words built bridges, his actions opened doors, and his presence changed lives.

His legacy is not measured in titles, but in community. In the athletes he fought for, the professors he supported, the teams he united, and the community he helped shape. Cleiber believed deeply that Jiu-Jitsu was more than a sport—it was a tool for education, inclusion, resilience, and character formation. He lived this belief every single day.

To me, Cleibão was a brother. Strong, loyal, and deeply genuine. Through every challenge, especially this final and hardest one, he revealed an even greater strength calm, fearless, and unwavering to the very end. His posture, values, friendships, and conduct on and off the mats left a permanent mark on all of us.

Cleiber’s physical fight may have come to an end, but his dream did not end with it.

We will continue to honor his history, his values, and his mission.
Rest in peace, brother. Thank you for everything 🙏
Your fight will never be forgotten.
Your legacy is eternal. 🤍🥋
