Marshall was a stray and then impounded up in the Hesperia Shelter; we knew he needed our help, so we rushed to get him. He was extremely emaciated, and from the moment he arrived he had painful, chronic diarrhea and tenesmus, meaning he had the constant feeling he had to defecate but could not. We have had other dogs with similar issues, but Marshall could not gain any weight, was not absorbing any nutrients and was suffering from low protein and infections. Along with our vet, we tried everything possible for Marshall but ultimately, we knew he was suffering and had to make the very difficult decision to send him over the Rainbow Bridge. We take comfort in knowing that Marshall would no longer be in distress and we like to think that all the love we gave to him in the short time we had him is sustaining him now. As custom, we honor the dogs we lose with some words from our loving staff:
"Marshall, it was such an honor to get to know such a sweet dog. All you ever wanted was cuddles and belly rubs. So sad we can't save every precious pug soul. But we loved you dearly nonetheless."
"Marshall, I am so sorry for the life you were given but I hope you know and felt how much we loved you. You were perfect in our eyes. Rest easy, Marshall."
"Marshall, you deserved so much more it stinks that the best dogs have to deal with he worst situations. I hope your time with us was at least peaceful you definitely touched many hearts here. You were definitely cherished. Much love."
"Marshall, so sad to say goodbye. You had such a sweet and kind disposition and you handled all the adversity you faced with such courage. You will be missed sweet boy."
"Marshall, I wish we were able to do more with you. We've had such success with similar dogs. Though my brain understands, my heart doesn't and I wish you could have been in a home but I'm glad you're no longer in pain. I loved you, baby boy."
R.I.P., our sweet, brave Marshall. We will never forget you. 🌈
