THIS is the magic of Dream Flights. Army veteran Bobby Austin took to the skies aboard the Spirit of Texas with Dream Flights in Castroville, Texas, and his reactions say it all. 🇺🇸 😁🙌

Castroville was the fifth stop in the Spirit of Texas 9-city dedication tour, introducing Dream Flights' 8th fully restored vintage Stearman biplane.

The tour launched May 6, 2026, in Georgetown, Texas, and will honor nearly 100 WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans with flights during the tour. Since 2011, Dream Flights has honored more than 8,000 senior veterans in 49 states. 🇺🇸

Austin was among a group of veterans from Touchstone Communities honored with flights aboard an aircraft that was once used to train military aviators near Corpus Christi during WWII. Cloudy skies couldn’t stop Jerry Adams from taking an unforgettable flight ☁️✈️💙

At 88 years old, Gerald “Jerry” Adams is a vibrant U.S. Navy veteran! Originally from Austin, Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Navy Reserve, demonstrating an early commitment to his country that continues to be honored today. His journey has been anything but ordinary, studying at BOTH the University of Texas at Austin and Texas State University before beginning a career path that included speech therapy studies, working with the FBI, and meaningful leadership in the nonprofit sector as President of Ronald McDonald House supporting families in need 🫡💙

With a lifelong interest in aviation and a bucket list dream of taking flying lessons, it was perfect for Jerry to take the skies with us! Thank you, Jerry for your service and sacrifice, it was an honor flying with you 🇺🇸✈️💙

Meet Robert McCarville ✈️🇺🇸

Robert McCarville served in the U.S. Navy starting in August of 1946, as an ET-3 (Electronics Technician Third Class). During his service, he served aboard the USS Goodrich (DD-831). Robert is a WWII-era veteran, though his service was outside of combat operations 🫡🇺🇸

It was a pleasure flying with you, Specialist Richard Gregerson ✈️🇺🇸

At 76 years old, Richard Gregerson served in the U.S. Army for 2 years as an E4 Specialist, including 14 months in Vietnam from 1969-1970 with Infantry Recon. His courage and sacrifice earned him a Purple Heart 💜

Thank you, Richard, for you service and sacrifice. We are incredibly grateful to have shared such a wonderful flight with you 💙✈️🇺🇸

At 78 years old, Lieutenant Colonel Rich Maling served his country for over 30 years, from 1967-1997 !! 💙🇺🇸

It was a pleasure flying with you, Petty Officer Mike Gates! ✈️💙

At 83 years old, Mike Gates proudly reflects on his service in the U.S. Navy from 1966-1972, where he earned the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. 🇺🇸

Thank you, Mike, for your service and sacrifice! We had a wonderful time in the sky !! ✈️💙🫡

🇺🇸 Dream Flights landed in South Florida to honor four veterans from . U.S. Air Force veteran Major Philip O'Donnell, 97, was among them.

Phil first served 6 years during the Korean War before leaving the military to marry his high school sweetheart. He later returned to serve another 19 years in the Air Force.

During his military career, Phil worked as a pharmacist and later became a medical supply officer. While stationed in the Philippines, he played a role in Project Homecoming, helping organize the return of Vietnam War POWs.

A Butler University graduate from Indiana, Phil was also a private pilot who owned airplanes, making his Dream Flight experience especially meaningful.
