AUGUST 2, 2023 → TODAY
I was passing through Carson City, just a few miles from my destination: Dayton, Nevada.
I had met Ryan Murphy, a racecar driver with a John 3:16 car, at the Placerville Speedway just a few weeks prior. I was taking this journey to see his shop and talk about evangelizing at the Placerville Speedway.
Weeks later, I made a second trip.
As I passed through the capital of Nevada, I reflected on how Nevada was established in the late 1930s and early 1940s. I stopped in Carson City for the first time in a long time.
As I walked the downtown streets, I reflected back four decades to when I lived there. I went into the Nugget, where I once worked as a dishwasher.
This was when something stirred within me.
After returning to Placerville for the following days, there was some unexplainable pull to go back.
I loaded my motorcycle into the back of my toy hauler.
I stayed at the happiest place on earth…
Walmart.
I spent four days and three nights wandering around this small town that I once lived in... talking to anybody who would talk to me.
I learned much about the surrounding jail and prison system.
I began to see a tremendous need for more faith-based reentry services and programs.
The Lord had called me to Carson City. I never planned it, thought about it, or wanted it.
But He had a plan.
Since that day, the Lord has orchestrated amazing things.
His hand has been undeniable and remarkable... the mountains He has moved, the people He has connected, and the doors He has opened.
Today New Beginnings Nevada has a 1,550-square-foot house in Carson City on half an acre, a signed rental agreement, and the utilities are in our name.
We are holding Bible studies. Our clients are regularly attending church and church events, building a healthy community and support system. They are volunteering with a local nonprofit to gain employment skills and serving in the community.
We have begun building relationships within the correctional system and are receiving letters and applications from people who are ready to change and want an opportunity to be in our program.
I was recently cleared at the Carson City Jail as a professional visitor, and we have also been able to do multiple outreaches in the Lovelock Jail.
Praise God for opening those doors!
We are so appreciative of our Nevada donors who have believed in this vision and helped us get to where we are today. We would love to see additional partners come alongside us... people who believe in this mission and want to be part of what God is doing.
This is just the beginning.
If you believe in giving people a second chance, helping people rebuild their lives, and bringing faith-based reentry to Nevada, we want you to be part of this story.
Follow this page to see what God is doing in Nevada, hear the stories of the people being impacted, and follow this ministry as it grows.
