2026 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Quality of Life Initiative in Carson City! In 1996, Carson City voters passed ballot Question 18 that created a ¼ of 1% sales tax which provides dedicated funding for the Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department to benefit the community through acquisition of lands as well as developing, improving, and maintaining our wonderful parks, open spaces, and recreation facilities.

This year, for the 30th Anniversary, we invite YOU to a FREE celebration with live music, Cowboy Poetry, volunteer appreciation awards, delicious food supplied by Lady Griller Catering, b**r donated by Shoe Tree Brewing Company, fun tables hosted by local partner organizations, and wagon rides with Friends of Silver Saddle Ranch! Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 24th starting at 2:00pm!
