The Bonanza Kennel Club shows, Obedience, & Rally trials are coming up fast! There will be NOHS & Junior Showmanship both days. On Friday there will be back-to-back FETCH, back-to-back Scent Work (offered by the German Shepherd Dog Club of Reno), along with back-to-back specialties for the following breeds:
Belgian Malinois
Belgian Sheepdogs
Belgian Tervuren
Bulldogs
German Shorthaired Pointers
German Shepherd Dogs
Papillons
Saturday will include specialties for Belgian Sheepdogs, Bulldogs & Shetland Sheepdogs. There will be multiple supported entries. The show also includes BPUP, P*e Wees, & ACT I & II Jumpers. Sunday will include CGC, CGCA, & Trick Dog.

Since the beginning of June 2026, cases of New World Screwworm (NWS, hereinafter screwworm) have been detected in southwest Texas and New Mexico. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and state departments of agriculture and health officials are working together to address the issue.

The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to debate amendments and vote on final passage of the Farm Bill, H.R. 7567, the “Farm, Food, and National Security Act,” the week of April 27.

There will be a guest speaker at the May 5 meeting of Bonanza Kennel Club. Katie Sulzmann from Physio Pet Massage will give a presentation about the positive benefits of animal massage, wellness, and mobility. Ms. Sulzmann earned a BS in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training, then incorporated her love of animals and exercise/rehab by becoming a Nationally Certified Canine Massage Therapist. She is certified and licensed in several animal fields.

The meeting will be held at the Carson City Senior Center, Joshua Tree Room, 911 Beverly Drive, Carson City, on Tuesday, May 5, at 7:00 p.m.
