Keeping people and their pets together. 🐾

Thanks to our partnership with Feeding Pets of the Homeless, People Assisting the Homeless - PATH Orange County received 30 dog crates to help support participants and their beloved pets.
For many people experiencing homelessness, pets provide companionship, comfort, and emotional support, making it even more important that services are accessible to the whole family, including four-legged family members.

We're grateful to Feeding Pets of the Homeless for helping provide these essential resources and supporting the well-being of both people and pets on their journey toward stability and housing. 🐶🏡

A different kind of Friday story. 🎥🐾

Behind the scenes, filming is underway for an upcoming documentary about Feeding Pets of the Homeless and the people and pets we serve.

This film will share the often unseen compassion behind our work and help challenge the stereotypes surrounding homelessness. Homelessness is not an identity. It is a circumstance, and every person has a story.

At the heart of this documentary is something we witness every day: the life-changing bond between people and their pets. These animals provide comfort, purpose, protection and unconditional love, especially during times of uncertainty.

As the filmmakers shared:

“A home doesn’t always have four walls; sometimes it has four paws.”

Now, funds are needed to continue telling this important story and help bring it to the big screen. Your support can be part of the journey from behind-the-scenes filming to the red carpet, helping shine a national spotlight on compassion, dignity and the human-animal bond.

With a gift of $50 or more, your name can be included in the film credits, recognizing your role in helping bring this story to life.

Be part of getting us to the red carpet.

Hi, my name is Lola.

I’m a 2-year-old Chihuahua Pug mix living with my mom in a women’s shelter. I am also my mom’s service animal. My cuddles and calming presence help interrupt her panic attacks and give her space when public places feel overwhelming.

One day, while I was napping in our room, I suddenly became very sick. I kept vomiting and having bloody diarrhea. My mom was terrified she might lose me, but she did not have the money to take me to an emergency vet.

She went to her social worker for help and was given a list of resources. That is when she found Feeding Pets of the Homeless.

After a quick application, my case was reviewed by a case manager, and I was approved for veterinary care.

At the clinic, the doctor ran diagnostics while giving me fluids and an anti-nausea injection. I was sent back with antibiotics and instructions for a bland diet while I recovered.

Now I’m resting with my mom and slowly getting back to myself. I can’t wait to run, play, and keep being there for her, just like she is always there for me.

Feeding Pets of the Homeless contributed $770 toward my care.

May is National Pet Month, a time to celebrate the bond we share with our pets.

For the people we serve, that bond is everything.

Because of you, that connection is protected in moments when it matters most. When
someone is facing homelessness, their pet is often their only constant. A source of
comfort, safety, and unconditional love in an uncertain world.

Through your support, that bond is not broken.

One of the most powerful places we see this come to life is at our Pet Wellness Clinics.

There is a quiet moment that happens again and again. A pet receives care. Relief sets in.
And you can see it on the face of their person, the weight they have been carrying begins to
lift. Not just because their pet is being helped, but because they are not alone in that
moment.

That is what you make possible. Thank you.

Feeding Pets of the Homeless has transitioned Emergency Veterinary Care requests to an online application to help make the process clearer, faster and more efficient for pet guardians experiencing homelessness.

Before applying, pet guardians should review the eligibility requirements listed at the start of the application page. This helps ensure they understand what information is needed before submitting a request, including verification of their living situation from an approved agency contact.

Emergency Veterinary Care assistance is specifically for individual pet owners who are experiencing homelessness and whose pets are sick or injured. Feeding Pets of the Homeless does not pay outstanding balances or reimburse for treatment already provided.

Applications can be submitted at any time and are reviewed in the order they are received. Care coordination takes place Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PST. Feeding Pets of the Homeless is not available after hours or on weekends.

If you need help accessing the application, a social worker, shelter staff member, outreach worker or trusted advocate may be able to help. Public libraries, shelters and community resource centers may also offer internet access.
