Thank you Senator Flores for listening to state workers and raising awareness of the issues we have with PEBP!

AFSCME members recently met with State Senator Edgar Flores, Chair of the Senate Government Affairs Committee, where we shared our concerns that upcoming PEBP rate increases will squeeze out dedicated state employees who already struggle to make ends meet, and our fears of how this may impact public services to our communities.

Members of AFSCME Local 4041announce endorsements ahead of the 2026 primary election.

As public employees, we are in a unique position to elect the people who make funding and structural decisions about the work we do. We need decision makers who support public services, and the hardworking employees who keep our communities running. That’s why as a union we make candidate endorsements. But AFSCME doesn’t just hand out endorsements – they are earned with a commitment to making life affordable for working people, protecting public services and our freedom to be in a union.

AFSCME endorses candidates who fight for working people. Our Local 4041 political action committee interviews candidates and carefully review their positions and records on issues that matter to public service workers and working families.

“As Nevadans continue to see cuts to public services by the Trump administration, we look to leaders in Nevada to prioritize the health and wellbeing of all our communities by investing in public services. These candidates earned our endorsement because of their commitment to fighting to build a Nevada that is more affordable for working people and have demonstrated their strong support of public service workers. We look forward to talking to our fellow Nevadans about these candidates and a future where we all can get ahead, not just survive,” said Dawn Ashford, a member of AFSCME Local 4041 Political Council.
