Carson City's only 2 Foot Narrow Gauge Park Railroad and Model Railroad Club The CCRA runs an outdoor 2ft narrow gauge railroad and 2 indoor model railroads.

The outdoor railroad is approx. 1.5 miles long and runs through out Mills Park. Our two indoor railroads are an HO and N Scale. The layouts are open to the public to view on weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day, 10am to 2pm. As an Association member in good standing you have access to the indoor railroad anytime the Station is open. You can either run the clubs equipment or your own. You a

nd your immediate family can also ride the outdoor railroad for free during normal Operation. Memberships are $36.00 a year.

The Outdoor Train,

As many of you know, the outdoor train has not been running this season. Our passenger cars had been in service for about 15 years before we acquired them in 1983, so at the end of last year, we decided to rebuild their trucks and wheels. The parts were removed and sent to a company in Southern California. After inspection, it was determined that new ones would be needed. All these parts had to be custom made. Those parts were completed at the end of May, but when we tried to install them, they did not fit correctly. We are now having new adapter parts made, and we hope this will allow us to get the outdoor train back into service soon.

We are a 100% volunteer-run and self-funded organization. We receive no funding from the City Parks Department or the State, and many of our volunteers also work full-time jobs. As a result, projects can take longer than we would like. Thankfully, we have been able to cover the costs so far, but we are already about $33,000 into the project, with several thousand dollars more still expected.

We share your frustration with the delay and sincerely appreciate your patience. Once the work is completed and all safety procedures have been met, we will let everyone know.
