🍎 Welcome Back to School, Carson City! 📚

Today marks the first day of a brand-new school year!

There are sure to be plenty of nerves and excitement, big smiles when old friends find each other again, and new friendships just waiting to begin. To all of our students: walk through those doors feeling confident, strong, and ready for everything this new year has to offer. Believe in yourselves, be kind to one another, ask questions, try new things—and remember that every new school year is a fresh beginning.

To our incredible teachers, school staff, and administrators: thank you for the countless hours of preparation that happen long before the first bell rings. Your hard work, patience, creativity, and dedication help make that first day feel welcoming and exciting for our children.

And to all the parents and caregivers watching those backpacks disappear through the school doors this morning—we know there are a few nerves on your side, too. Whether it’s the very first day of kindergarten or the beginning of senior year, sending them off is always a little bittersweet.

From all of us at CASA of Carson City, we wish the students, families, teachers, and staff of the Carson City School District a safe, successful, and wonderful 2026–2027 school year! 💙

Here’s to new beginnings, new friendships, new challenges, and a year filled with opportunities to learn and grow. ✏️📓

👀 Something amazing just happened at CASA of Carson City…

Our office received an incredible delivery this week, and we could not be more excited! 🎒📚

Rows of backpacks 🎒, school supplies ✏, and smiling faces 👪 are filling our office, all because of the kindness and generosity of an amazing community partner. While we have to keep their identity a surprise for just a little while longer, trust us when we say… this act of generosity is going to make a real difference for children in foster care as they prepare for the new school year. 🏫 🍎

We can’t wait to share the full story and recognize the incredible individuals behind this gift. Until then, here’s a little sneak peek at some of the excitement happening at CASA!

There are some gifts that provide comfort, and then there are gifts that become lifelong treasures.

A heartfelt thank you to the Carson Valley Quilt Guild for their recent donation of beautiful, handcrafted quilts to CASA of Carson City. For many years, this incredible group has faithfully supported the children we serve, and their generosity continues to make a lasting difference.

When children enter foster care, they often arrive with very few personal belongings. In the midst of uncertainty and change, receiving a quilt made especially for them is so much more than receiving a blanket. It is a reminder that someone they have never met cared enough to spend countless hours creating something beautiful and magical, just for them. It tells a child, “You matter. You are worthy of kindness. You are seen.”

Each quilt is a work of art—filled with vibrant colors, remarkable craftsmanship, and, most importantly, love. These are keepsakes that children get to take with them wherever life leads, offering comfort during some of the most difficult moments of their young lives.

To every member of the Carson Valley Quilt Guild, thank you for sharing your extraordinary talent and your compassionate hearts with our children. Your years of partnership with CASA of Carson City have wrapped countless children in warmth, hope, and the reassurance that their community stands beside them.

We are profoundly grateful for all that you do.

The Carson Valley Quilt Guild provides quilts to numerous charities within our community!

Recently, we met with Melanie McCormick, Executive Director of CASA of Carson City. She received 10 quilts and 4 tote bags for children in her program.

Well Howdy CASA Fans ~
We've been a bit quiet haven't we? It's been a long and quiet summer. While we may have taken a break from our social media pages, we are thrilled to be back at it as we inch ever closer to Back to School!

While things may have "seemed" quiet at the front, we've been busy behind the scenes.

Ever recruiting for new volunteers, providing continued education training for our active volunteers, preparing for Legislature (can you believe it's right around the corner???) and partnering with some of the BEST community partners we could have ever hoped for.

It's gearing up to be a busy time of year again and I encourage you to keep your eyes peeled as we roll out some of these fabulous new things that we've been safeguarding the past couple of months.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon. Don't forget to say hello!

It's Timeeeeeee!!!!
Good Saturday Morning CASA Fans!
Today is the 4TH Annual "Walk Us Home" 8k - 5k - 3k AND Free Family Resource Fair!

Yours truly has been up since about 4:37am making sure we've got all the CASA goodies, toys and treats for our community.

If you're in the neighborhood? Come on down to the Brewery Arts Center from 9:00am to 1:00pm and support our amazing runners and check out our Resource Fair.

Look for the CASA booth. Trust me, you won't miss it!

It's a gorgeous beautiful Friday CASA Fans! But TOMORROW is the day we've all been waiting for!

Come out and help us celebrate our 4TH Annual "Walk Us Home" 8k / 5k / 3k walk/run and FREE Family Resource Fair on Saturday, May 9 beginning at 9:00am at the phenomenal Brewery Arts Center.

This annual event is put on by the wonderful collaboration of the Nevada Department of Human Services (Division of Child and Family Services staff) and RennerVation Foundation along with CASA of Carson City to raise awareness as to the need of Foster Homes in rural Nevada.

Today we are PREPPING, and PACKING, and PREPARING for all to come on Saturday, May 9. Currently, we are busy bees here at the CASA office putting together our THANK YOU bags for all of our amazing vendors that come out and share their services with the community. We couldn't do it without you.

Tomorrow is looking to be a beautiful day, we hope to see many of you there. Definitely stop by the CASA booth and pick up some awesome swag and fill your bellies with the likes of CandyBurger CandyCafe after your run.

We are FOUR days, count them, FOUR wonderful days away from our 4TH Annual "Walk Us Home" for Foster Homes 8k / 5k / 3k and FREE Family Resource Fair --- happening this Saturday, May 9 at the amazing Brewery Arts Center from 9:00am until 1:00pm.

This annual event is put on by the wonderful collaboration of the Nevada Department of Human Services (Division of Child and Family Services staff) and RennerVation Foundation along with CASA of Carson City to raise awareness as to the need of Foster Homes in rural Nevada.
