Today was Service Saturday 💙💛

Once a month, members of the Rotary Club of Carson City roll up their sleeves and spend their Saturday helping people in our community who could use an extra hand with projects around their homes and yards.

Today, President Molly Walt, Rotarian Mary Pierczynski, Rotarian Peter Fishburn, James Hardiman, and fellow volunteers were out raking pinecones, pulling weeds, tackling yard work, and lending a hand where it was needed.

Service doesn’t always have to be something big. Sometimes it’s showing up, giving your time, and helping make life a little easier for someone in your community.

That’s Service Above Self in action, right here in Carson City. 💙💛

This Tuesday, Hope Sullivan, Carson City’s Director of Economic Development, will sit down with Mayor Lori Bagwell for a candid conversation about what’s going well in Carson City, what she’s seeing in our community, and what the future may hold.

A little Rotary recap this week! 💙💛

This Tuesday, we had the privilege of recognizing Eagle Valley Children’s Home and celebrating 80 years of Heart, Hope & Home.

While many know the name, few realize the incredible impact they’ve had for generations providing compassionate care and support for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities while helping families throughout our community.

Thank you to Dawn Harris for sharing the organization’s inspiring story and for the meaningful work Eagle Valley Children’s Home continues to do right here in Carson City. Congratulations on 80 incredible years of service!

Celebrating Student & Community Success

Join us this Tuesday as the Rotary Club of Carson City welcomes Cody Downing and Carson High School FBLA students for a presentation on Entrepreneurs in Action 2026.

Learn how students collaborated with local businesses to create a fully student-led publication while gaining real-world experience in marketing, writing, photography, advertising sales, and leadership. This inspiring presentation highlights the power of education, entrepreneurship, and community partnerships in preparing students for future success.

Peter Fishburn knocked it out of the park with his fantastically irreverent & amusing Demotion Dinner Program; great belly laughs could be heard throughout the evening. Heather followed that up with a sumptuous dinner followed by Jeff's all-time favorite dessert, chocolate banana bread pudding. Jesus even showed up with his DAD! Finally, Stan Pesis stopped by to share stories of his wild and crazy adventures with Jeff over the last thirty years. What a wonderful evening roasting and toasting the, soon to be, Rotary Club of Carson City Past President Jeff Paul.

This Tuesday's program, Star Party at the Jack C Davis Observatory. Dr. Thomas Herring took us through a tour of the observatory and told us all about the telescopes. We even got to take a peek through several! He also taught us how to measure using our fingers: pinky is 1 degree, pointer/index/ring finger together is 5 degrees and distance between pointer finger and pinky is 15 degrees.

Brewfest 2026!! a smashing success: 20 brewers, 6 pubs, food trucks and over 1200 people enjoying the afternoon and supporting the work of the Rotary Club of Carson City. Big shout out to Jim Phalan II and the Fox for all your help with the Brewfest. Congratulations to the Shoe Tree Brewing Company for winning the Capital City Brewfest People's Choice award!
