Donations like this are completely unacceptable. What you can’t tell in the picture is the horrific smell of cat p*e. We don’t like to post negative things on our page in regards to our donations, but this has become more frequent than we care for.
Please remember when you are making donations to any St. Vincent de Paul, or organization that you do not drop off things that you would not buy. If it is damaged, broken, torn, smells bad or stained we will not accept it. We sell only what we fill people will buy, and if it has any of the above wrong with it, we will not sell it and we expect people making the donations to know that we do not sell things like that.
We have left things slide before and we have also prosecuted people doing illegal dumping or made people come back who were caught dropping off these types of items. Please note that just because we are St. Vincent de Paul that does not mean we will take your garbage. If it is legitimately garbage please don’t bring it to the store. It raises the cost of our garbage bill and in returns that will cause higher prices at our store. If we are to keep our prices reasonable and affordable for all of our customers, we need to make sure we are not paying to haul someone’s garbage away.
We are not trying to be mean or disrespectful, but we are not a garbage dump. What we sell goes back into the community and if we cannot sell it, we have to dispose of it and that cost us money.
Please remember all donations must be in sellable condition. This means the item must work, must be neat and clean, no tears, stains, or smells. Again, if it’s something you would not buy please do not donate it .
We hope all of you understand this post is not meant to single anyone out. It is to make it perfectly clear that the donations coming in like this are not acceptable.
