The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) declared a Code Purple Air Quality Alert for the entire state on Friday. This is among the most severe air quality ratings. We urge everyone to please take precautions to protect yourself and your family.

At tonight‘s monthly meeting, we had the privilege of honoring lifetime member Jim Shank for his 50 years of service as a member of the Carrolltown Fire Engine Company. Jim comes from a storied lineage of service to his community as his parents, siblings, and other family members have contributed to the fire company in a multitude of ways.

For the past 50 years, Jim has been one of our most active firefighters and continues to answer the call for help to this day. Jim currently serves as our Fire Police Captain where he serves a critical role in maintaining the flow of traffic and keeping his fellow firefighters safe at all emergency scenes. Jim has held this position for over a decade now and also serves on our board of directors.

We greatly appreciate Jim for his previous and continued service to the community!

Update: The issue has been resolved and Sunset Road is now open to traffic!

Sunset Road will be shut down for an extended period of time from the Dollar General to the intersection of Sunset Road and Tower Road (Baker’s Crossroads) for an extended period of time due to a weather related incident.
