Kids need adults who care. That’s why people join Kiwanis clubs. They’re local groups of like-minded volunteers who make a difference. Friends. Neighbors. Anyone who loves serving together to change children’s lives. We were busy this past Monday morning, February 16th, placing flags out to honor President's Day. We also had help from a young member of the Carrollton High School Key Club . Thank you Trent for the extra hands.

🎉 Key Historical Facts for President's Day
👉 Original Recognition:
President Rutherford B. Hayes signed the bill in 1879 to make Washington's birthday a holiday, which became effective for all federal employees in 1885.

👉 Uniform Monday Holiday Act (1971):
To provide more three-day weekends, the federal holiday was moved from February 22 to the third Monday in February. As a result, the holiday never actually falls on Washington's birthday (Feb. 22).

👉 Lincoln's Influence:
Because the new date often falls between Lincoln’s birthday (Feb. 12) and Washington’s (Feb. 22), the popular name "Presidents' Day" emerged to include both leaders.
