Any ideas for a new "project" that Mom ( Kay Denig Fleming) would appreciate or get behind?.... Think it's about time for a new one. Ideas welcomed

Volunteers are needed for several weeks this summer to help with the Summer Kids Club program. This is the program that The Stewpot manages each year where around 70 low income elementary children participate in enrichment and fun activities at First Presbyterian Church.

Volunteers help manage the elementary school children in the various classes that they attend daily as well as helping with serving meals.

We are in DESPERATE need of volunteers for the summer.

If you are interested or know of anyone 14 years and older that is available, please email the Children an Youth Coordinator at [email protected] or via phone 469-508-0891 (please leave a detail voicemail).

This is the part of the effort to honor special people, "givers" like the charities namesake ( my Mom) and others like Cole Adams and Nancy Petty Harris, that sorta sucks. Not good at this part, but I do have to ask others for money or other contributions ( time etc)

As mentioned, we will be helping a single-mother family this year, as well as some outreach to the homeless, in particular, to the companion dogs and their care ( food, wellness checks) to honor Cole Adams, Nancy Petty Harris, for their work as extraordinary human beings, helping the most vulnerable and innocent.

Think we will need about $2500-3000 to get it right this year. 99% to 100% of donations go directly to recipients, we don't waste money on overhead/accountants and crap, (just some gas money to some helper/volunteers) More to come in the next few days. Have a great weekend with this weather, thank you for reading.

Colin Fleming and Tess Farmer ( and senior dogs Woody and Nellbell!)

We will honor dearly departed friends, such as Nancy Pettis Harris and Cole Adams, who were of the same ilk ( giving back to the world, animals, and those in dire straits in life) They too, like my mother, lived the "Least Shall Be First" mantra. Not sure how just yet, but if its ok with Chris Harris and Jenny Mortensen Adams, I'd like to make this a special project this year in their memories. Colin.

That time of year. I've prayed about this for a year, and keep "hearing" ONE person or family. So, given my Mother's (Kay's) charitable work with vets and immigrant families, I am looking to find either/or/both an immigrant, single mother, family, that needs a jolt, and/or a homeless veteran that we can help get off the streets, caretake and get him/her the resources needed ( health, mental health, job.training. financial readiness etc) Starting a bit earlier this year, as it may take a bit longer to get the funds and identify a recipient(s). Not begging and scraping for funds just yet, but surely will be soon. Floating it out there until I can articulate more specifics. Thanks for reading, Colin

Try visiting the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetary this weekend. Takes 5 minutes. Is beautiful and humbling, and a great teaching experience for children: http://www.cem.va.gov/CEMs/nchp/dallasftworth.asp
