🎨 What an fantastic Guild meeting!

A massive thank you to Jill Williams Watercolor with Jill for treating the Carrollton Artist Guild to a live watercolor painting demonstration.

We were lucky enough to learn from Jill while surrounded by inspiration at the Georgia Watercolor Society's National Exhibition!

🌟Jill told us about her life as a "Southern watercolor painter chasing nature’s wild beauty on the road" while showing some of the unique, rich techniques that make watercolor such a wonderful medium. We are inspired and grateful for our vibrant local art community! 🖌️✨

We were so lucky to see Quilts Japan: The 17th Quilt Nihon! ✨

Executive Director of the Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum, Amy Loch, gave an insightful talk about the exhibit's history and the practice of modern quilting in Japan. The craftsmanship is fantastic, so see it in-person if you haven't already!

Many thanks to artist extraordinaire, Alan Kuykendall, for presenting to the Carrollton Artist Guild this month! 🎨 He improvised a sculpture using suggestions from the audience, demonstrating creativity as an active, in-the-moment practice. We can officially confirm that Alan is as inspiring a speaker as he is a talented artist.

Our next Carrollton Artist Guild meeting is Tuesday, February 10th, and we will have two special guests to present for us! Victoria Catron and Annie McNeil will show us about the art of cosplay (costume play). This is an artform that blends craftsmanship, prop-making, makeup, fashion, and even acting, so you won't want to miss it!

Get in a pop-culture mood and join us in Classroom 3 at the Carrollton Center for the Arts at 6:30 PM for socializing and snacks, and then at 7:00 PM we will witness a true cosplay display. 😎
