Last week, the Carroll Tomorrow team—alongside representatives from the City of Carrollton—traveled to Birmingham to participate in a Retail Academy hosted by Georgia Power Economic Development and Retail Strategies. The experience provided a deep dive into retail recruitment and attraction, and how we can better position our community to bring in the retailers our residents want to see. The insights gained from this opportunity will be invaluable as we continue to work together to strengthen Carrollton and all of Carroll County through smart, intentional growth.

Retail is more than just shopping - it’s about creating jobs, enhancing quality of life, and building vibrant spaces where neighbors connect. That’s why Georgia Power Economic Development recently joined community leaders from Carroll, Cornelia, and Dublin at the Retail Academy headquarters.

Through our "Retail Ready" initiative, we’re equipping these dedicated leaders with the tools and strategies they need to attract quality retail projects to their hometowns. It’s all about fostering growth and ensuring our communities continue to thrive.

Happy Global Running Day! Carrollton's mayor and council announced at their meeting Monday the city was named a “Runner Friendly Community” by the Road Runners Club of America and recognized the West Georgia Track Club for facilitating the designation's application process.

Most roadways in Carroll County have been cleared, with the exception of where power crews are continuing to respond, and the Burwell/Mt. Zion area, where Public Works crews are still hard at it.

When severe weather hits, it’s truly all hands on deck, and we want to extend our deepest gratitude to the dedicated teams who made our response possible:

✅ Our incredible telecommunicators and E-911 Director for managing a heavy call volume and coordinating emergency response
✅ All those who responded to E-911 to help dispatch crews quickly and efficiently
✅ EMA for monitoring the storms, tracking damage, fielding response calls, and providing critical updates to the National Weather Service
✅ Carroll County Fire Rescue for working side-by-side with Public Works to remove downed trees and debris
✅ The Sheriff’s Office for maintaining safety throughout the event and removing trees blocking roadways
✅ Communications for keeping the public informed before, during, and after the storm
✅ And of course, our Public Works crews, who hit the ground running and haven’t stopped since

💪 This is what looks like. Thank you to everyone who stepped up, now let’s hope we don’t have to deal with round two after midnight! 😳

The Carroll Tomorrow team just wrapped up an energizing and productive experience at the SEDC 2025 American South Site Selection Summit!

This event was a powerful platform for education, advocacy, and connection, and we’re coming away inspired by the meaningful conversations and new relationships formed over the past few days.

A big thank you to the Southern Economic Development Council for hosting such an impactful summit. We’re excited to bring new insights back to our community as we continue working to drive economic progress in Carroll County.
