Youth Leadership in action! Today's lesson: you gotta know what your end game is so you can plan to get there! Students are also learning to write a mission statement to help them along the way. We also got to speak with many elected and appointed officials today. Thank you Mayor Pam Lee, Tax Assessor Tammy Johnson, Mayor/CEMA director Ken Strachan, Dispatch Controllers George Gillespie and Linda McClain, and Extension Agent Christina Meriwether!

Pumpkins are usually only thought of as decor during this time of year but did you know they are very nutritious? Pumpkins are a good source of Vitamin A and fiber! They are in the same family as summer squash and zucchini. They are easy to grow in our Mississippi climate and usually are planted in late spring to early summer. Just make sure they are mature before the first fall frost.

Try using pumpkin puree to make sweet treats like pumpkin pie, pumpkin coffee cake, pumpkin pancakes or savory meals like a holiday stuffed pumpkin with mushrooms and pecans or even a chicken bacon pumpkin pasta.
