The CCMH Foundation presented a donation to the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) chapter on Wednesday, June 3. This donation in particular was very special, as it was made in honor of Mrs. Carolyn Lock. Carolyn touched many lives through the years by teaching the Health Occupations class for approximately three decades. She also served on the CCMH Foundation Board for 6 years.

We are so thankful for her dedication to the community, as well as the lasting impact she has made on students going into the healthcare field.

The HOSA class recently won Chapter of the Year for the state of Missouri at the State Leadership Conference and will be able to use these funds for their advance to the HOSA International Leadership Conference this month in Indiana.

Earlier this year the CCMH Foundation launched the Community Initiatives Fund, a new program dedicated to supporting projects that improve health and wellbeing in our region. Through this fund, local organizations can apply for mini grants to address critical needs such as social determinants of health, mental health and substance use, and chronic disease prevention.

The board was proud to select the Carrollton R-VII School District's Backpack Program as its third recipient so far this year.

This program provides breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, and drink items to cover Saturday and Sunday for each student on the program. This would provide approximately 3,240 meals, 1,080 snacks, and 1,080 drinks over the course of 12 months.

High school students play a vital role in this program. Students from Carrollton R-VII FFA help to order, organize, package, and distribute these bags to classrooms teachers. This program not only supports students facing food insecurity but also encourages leadership and community involvement among our high school volunteers.

Congratulations to our first two recipients of the Community Initiatives Fund Grant! We were excited to unveil the winners at our Inaugural Chocolate Brunch!

Brunswick FBLA – Wildcat Care Packs
Wildcat Care Packs provide free personal hygiene kits to 7th–12th grade Brunswick R II students, helping remove barriers to attendance, confidence, and learning. By promoting dignity and access to basic needs, the project creates a cleaner, more equal learning environment for all students.

Agape Faith & Outreach – Loaves & Love Grocery Boxes
Loaves & Love Grocery Boxes delivers nutritious food and essential household items to local families facing food insecurity, offering dignity, compassion, and hope. Through community donations and volunteers, Agape Faith & Outreach shares Christ’s love through practical service.

Thank you to all who helped make our inaugural Chocolate Brunch a success! We couldn’t have done it without support from the following individuals and businesses:

- BTC Bank, U.S. Engineering, Creative Planning and Scott and Gwen Thoreson for sponsoring the event.
- We had the most amazing volunteers made up of board members, hospital staff and HOSA students.
- Those who donated items to and purchased from the silent auctions or made a donation in some way.
- Burger Bar for donating the roses for each attendee.
- Fern and Fallow for donating a portion of the floral arrangements.
- Carrollton FFA for donating the Hot Chocolate Bombs for each attendee.

We also appreciate the local vendors who provided food and drink stations, as well as La Bella Hall for the beautiful space. We had a great time and hope you did too!
