12 for Life School

12 for Life School We are a work based learning program between Carroll County Schools and Southwire. We now serve Haralson, Heard and Carrollton School Systems as well.

Students work a 4-hour work shift and attend school either in our facility or at their "home" schools.

Congratulations to Mr. Joel Grubbs on his retirement!! He has passed the baton to our new Site Supervisor / Principal of 12 for Life, Mrs. Sheanoka Almon!
We are SO grateful for having had Mr. Grubbs as our leader and for the amazing impact he has had on our program and on these students’ lives!!
We are excited and looking forward to having Mrs. Almon lead us into this next era! We know she, too, will do amazing things!!

On Friday, 4/24/26, Mr. Bryan Iler if Wesco spoke to students about overcoming adversity, networking, giving your best effort, and that each and every student is valuable, has something to offer and has a purpose. Mr. Iler shared his personal story as an example of all of these things and it was truly inspiring!

On Thursday, April 23rd, some of our 12 for Life students visited the Georgia Army National Guard at Dobbins AFB in Marietta GA.

Students participated in a physical training session (PT) and were able to look at (and sit in) Blackhawk helicopters. During our time there, we were able to see a Blackhawk take flight for a mission to deliver water to fight the Georgia wildfires.
Students were able to see what Army Aviation jobs are available, whether it be a pilot, crew chief, mechanic etc. sparking some interest in enlistment!
Students probably felt the effects of the trip the following day!

On March 23, 1950, Roy Richards, Sr. founded Southwire with just 12 employees and three used machines.
