This weekend, my son and I are beginning an art piece together for the Carrollton Culture Fest exhibit, and it's already inspiring conversations about where we come from, the people who shaped us, and the traditions we hope to carry forward.
There's something incredibly meaningful about creating alongside your child and seeing your heritage through their eyes.
Art has a beautiful way of turning memories into something we can see, hold it in our hands, and share it with others.
What stories have been passed down in your family? What foods, music, symbols, languages, celebrations, landscapes, or traditions helped shape who you are?
This is more than an art exhibit. It's an opportunity to participate in the City of Carrollton's first exhibition showcasing the creativity and cultural stories of Carrollton residents.
You don't have to be a professional artist. You simply have to be willing to create.
Paint it. Draw it. Sculpt it. Stitch it. Build it.
Create something with your children. Create something with your parents. Create something that honors your roots while celebrating the community we call home.
Explore your heritage with a Carrolltonian flair and tell your story through art.
Every culture. Every generation. Every experience adds another thread to the beautiful tapestry we call home.
I hope you'll join us and create something meaningful together. 🎨❤️
