Saturday, July 4, 2026 - Jim Swinson and Tim Clark will have the float at the parking lot at 810 South Park Street (behind Synovus Bank, Wendy's, Starbucks, and Chipotle) at 7:00 AM to decorate. We need all hands-on deck (SAR and DAR members) to get the float decorated. At 9:00 AM the float must be in the line up in front of Dairy Queen at the intersection of South Park Street and Maple Street. The Color Guard, with flags and guns should gather in that area. DAR members from all area Chapters (Abraham Baldwin, James Stewart, Sweetwater Chapters are invited to ride the float along with SAR members not in the Color Guard). Restrooms close by will be Goodyear - a block away, Dairy Queen when they open, and Marathon gas station across South Park on corner of Maple Street.
The parade begins at 10:00 AM and goes up North Park Street by OZK bank, turning right on Alabama Street. and proceeding through the Carrollton Square. After the Carrollton Square, the street becomes Newnan Street and will eventually become Bankhead Street. The end of the parade will be the parking lot of the old K-Mart which is now Robinson Salvage. The members of the SAR and DAR are needed to remove the decorations from the float at the Robinson Salvage Parking lot. Restrooms will be available in the Burger King in the parking lot, also water will be available from Burger King. Remember to arrange for a vehicle to be left at Robinson Salvage and catch a ride to South Park Street for decoration - this way you will have transportation to leave the end of the Carrollton Parade. In the past, the City of Carrollton Police frown upon people riding on the float, or in the back of a pickup truck after the parade.
We will then proceed to the City of Tallapoosa arriving by 12:00 Noon where we will participate in the Dedication of the Veterans' Museum. The museum is located at 43 Little Field Lane - behind the Haralson County Board of Education. Parking will be available up the hill on the main road in front of the school. Restrooms will be available in the area. The Museum is located three stop signs from a CVS Pharmacy - turn right beside CVS and you will find the stop signs per block until you see the Museum. Parking will not be available at the Museum.
After the Dedication of the Museum, the City of Tallapoosa will hold their July 4th Parade beginning at 2:00 PM. Members of the Color Guard have been invited to participate. If the float is carried to Tallapoosa, it will be in the parade and can accommodate riders - DAR and SAR.
