CARROLL COUNTY FRAUD COALITION- THIS GROUP IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
a. Our goal – Promote education, outreach, and prevention ideas to help generate awareness of fraud, especially elder fraud in Carroll County. How to achieve it – Create county-wide events to help educate and communicate information on fraud.
1. Will task the large group with helping to educate our community on types of fraud and way

s to mitigate it. Top four objectives and how to achieve them.
1. Educate – we will bring education to each of our industries and specifically out to our community members.
2. Assist – we will assist our community members by spreading awareness of fraud information and tips to avoid fraud.
3. Support – we will support our community members by giving them knowledge and the tools to avoid fraud.
4. Unite – we will unite our community members by bringing them together in large group events to discuss fraud and ways to combat it. Action Plan – We will host county-wide events to educate our community on current fraud scenarios and ways to avoid being a victim of fraud. Keep in mind the following question:
How can we work together to prevent and respond to cases of fraud (and elder exploitation) in Carroll County?

Scammers are everywhere and are constantly looking for ways to steal money from older Iowans. That’s why we have partnered with the Iowa Department of Insurance and Financial Services, the Iowa Attorney General’s Office, and AARP Iowa for their Stop the Scammers event!

At this event, experts will equip you with the knowledge and tools to identify, avoid, and report scams.

In 2025, over $2.7 million in funds were prevented from being sent to scammers from Iowans coming forward at these events.

Take the steps today to protect yourself tomorrow.
