Updates:
- If we are going to do the Christmas parade we need to start getting Christmas decorations together. We have enough from our lemonade stand to pay for our entry into the parade with a little left over, but it’s definitely not enough to take care of all of the decorations. The paperwork for the parade states that floats/trailers have to be heavily decorated.
- We have a trailer but we also need to see who has a truck and would be available to pull it. My husband will be out of town for the parade, so we need to figure that part out.
- we will have a couple of get together days where we decorate the trailer. The theme is Christmas through the decades - I personally think it would be super cute if we did like “vintage Christmas” but yall give me any ideas or suggestions you may have.
- It looks like it is going to be quite cold for the Christmas parade, so we are probably going to be doing black leggings and a cute Christmas cheer long sleeve (I’ll post the design tomorrow probably) and I found some really cute royal blue Santa hats to go with it. We will use our blue poms and I just ordered blue Christmas glitter so I’ll make us some special glitter for that.
- Our adopt a senior for Christmas project is due Dec 7th. Y’all can bring your items (wrapped or unwrapped- either is ok) to St. Oaks or if you’d rather give them to me to bring over there, that’s fine too.
- uniforms: right now we are still showing a projected ship date of Nov. 20th. That can change, but hopefully it won’t. I want to remind everyone, that while it seems like it has been forever, it actually hasn’t. We put our order in on Sept. 6th with a turn around time of 12-20 weeks. We are getting custom uniforms & that takes time. The first order always takes more time because a sewing contractor does all of this sewing and stitching from scratch almost. We are 9 weeks in. I hope they are able to get them out to us on the 20th, but if that changes, we are still well within the turn around time they quoted us. We added inches and rounded up for all measurements and sizes, so we really shouldn’t have too many issues with things fitting. The company is also going to do shoe swaps for us, up to 14 days after delivery (like we will have to let them know, we have however many pair that need to be swapped within 14 days of all the shoes being delivered & then we can swap them). Yes, it sucked not having them for this football season, but we are actually ahead for next football season and for most of our other calendar events. In addition, none of us are really going to have to pay anything during our next sign ups, aside from insurance cost which is usuallly around $20-$25. Practice shorts will be shipped out this week & im also going to post a couple of choices for alternate practice shirts bc the original one we wanted is discontinued, so those can go out too. Then it’ll be uniforms and half tops & shoes & then warm ups and duffles are last.
The turn around times for add ons and etc are as follows:
Add ons for new comers or if someone needs a new piece as they outgrow, that we should allow 2-4 weeks for those since they are one offs.
Any orders that will end up being 10 or more custom pieces-not socks and shoes and stuff, but shells- they want us to use normal turn around times (5-10 weeks)
If we ever change uniforms to something (custom) new (which we are NOT doing) we should allow for the 12-20 week turn around like we did for this original order.
So that should have us standing pretty good for most things from here on out.
Medical stuff:
I also wanted to update y’all on my medical stuff. I have had a rough couple of weeks. I started hemorrhaging again, was given more medicine, it stopped & then happened a 3rd time. I’m seeing a specialist in Jackson & the fibroids I have are actually bigger than they originally thought and are actually physically changing my anatomy and they have labeled my surgery as “life saving” because of the fact that I keep hemorrhaging & because my body has no room for something this big & it’s affecting my organs. I have had to have blood transfusions along with my other medications they have me on temporarily.
This coming week, I will be spending almost the whole week in Jackson as they will be giving me iron infusions, blood infusions and doing other pre-op stuff for me to have surgery on Thursday morning. They are going to attempt to do my surgery robotically, which was the plan all along, but due to the size of the fibroids and their location, there is a possibility that they will have to open me up the old fashioned way. So I’m praying that they can do everything robotically and that I don’t end up with any big incisions. In the meantime, I am on light bed rest to try and keep the bleeding minimal, but I feel confident that I will come out of this surgery feeling like a million bucks bc it will resolve a ton of issues.
Misc:
- We are probably going to be switching apps that we use to communicate. There are some that allow schedules to be uploaded to a group calendar so everyone can see dates and times for months in advance & they allow tasks to be assigned or volunteer positions to be signed up for and things like that. I have found several, but haven’t had a chance to really dig into them, so while I’m recovering, I will look and see which ones look like they are going to serve us the best, and then show them to y’all and we can decide which one we want to use.
- I had planned on us doing a squad thanksgiving & I still want to do that, it just may be a little after Thanksgiving since I’m having this surgery on Thursday. I’m thinking maybe the 29th or 30th. I was thinking maybe we could all get together and eat and play some games. If everyone is up for it, I can cook the turkey and mashed potatoes, and then if anyone wants to help bring some sides, let me know. So let me know if that date works for y’all and if y’all want to do that.
- We are also doing a squad Christmas. We will do either secret Santa or dirty Santa (y’all let me know which you prefer) and I was thinking I would set up like a hot coco bar and I have a projector so we could all watch a Christmas movie in our pjs or something like that. The dates I was contemplating for that is maybe somewhere around Dec. 18th, 19th or 20th- so let me know if any of those dates work.
- do we want to do a squad New Year’s party/get together?
- we will be doing some fundraising in January & some community events
- basketball starts in March & I’m hoping to have two of our clinics around then as well.
