The 21st Annual West End Poetry Festival returns Oct. 15–17 with three days of free readings, workshops, conversations, open mics and more — all centered around this year’s theme: “Kinship, Community and Belonging.”

Whether you write poetry, love to listen, or are simply curious, there’s something for you.

📅 THURSDAY, OCT. 15
🎤 7–9 p.m. | Steel String Brewery
Carrboro Poets’ Council reading, collaborative poem + open mic. Open mic sign-up begins at 6:30 p.m.

📅 FRIDAY, OCT. 16
✍️ 5–6:30 p.m. | Drakeford Library Complex
Youth Writing Workshop with Chapel Hill Poet Laureate Donovan Livingston
🌆 6:30 p.m. | Reception on the 3rd-floor terrace
🗣️ 8–9:30 p.m. | “Black Southern Kinship” with Carrboro Poet Laureate Dr. Amanda Bennett, in conversation with G.L.O.W. Girls

📅 SATURDAY, OCT. 17
📚 12:30–8:15 p.m. | Carrboro Century Center
A full day of readings, youth poets, workshops, poetry in the round, books, food, conversation and more — ending with an 8:15 p.m. afterparty and open mic featuring students from Carrboro High School Poetic Justice League.

All events are FREE and open to the public. Come for a reading, stay for a workshop, discover a new poet — and find your place in the conversation.
