Last Poetry Workshop for the 2025 Westend Poetry Workshop
ECOPOETRY WORKSHOP
This Saturday 1:00-3:00 Drakeford Library Complex. Free, Open to all.
For the Love of the Earth- Reading and Writing Ecopoetry as Resistance and Coping.
Budhist monk, environmentalist, peace activist, writer, and scholar, Thich Nhat Hanh said, “The earth is you. You are the earth. When you realize there is no separation, you fall completely in love with this beautiful planet.” To save the earth, we must love the earth. We will read ecopoetry examples and explore them as acts of resistance and coping. Always considering ourselves as part of the natural world, not superior to it, we will explore ways to love the earth through poetry and we will write our own poetry inspired by the poems we read. Come read, write, and share in community.
