WOW!! Day 2 of the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum 2026 continues to be AWESOME!!

Building on what we learned yesterday, Lucas Seehof I carefully reviewed today’s educational sessions and decided to divide and conquer, attending different classes and then catching each other up afterward!

It worked perfectly!! We’re learning so many new and different ways to enhance how we serve and support our Carpinteria Lions Club!

Meeting, connecting and collaborating with Lions Clubs from across the country continues to be one of the highlights of our trip!!

Today’s keynote speakers, Stephenie Graef and Nichole, shared their powerful experiences with human trafficking and sexual exploitation/abuse. Their stories were sobering, eye-opening, horrifying and, ultimately, inspiring. I’m incredibly grateful they were willing to share their stories — and especially happy to hear that Nichole is back with her children and doing well. ❤️

After today’s seminars, we had a free evening and took advantage of the beauty, history and energy of Beale Street, connecting with fellow Lions over food, drinks and stories about our different clubs!

It was especially fun spending time with District Governor Brian Wersham and Past International Director Dr. Gary Anderson at Silky O’Sullivan’s during dinner.

What started as a chance encounter turned into an AWESOME evening with more than 20 Lions from across the country! 🦁

Lucas, Jackie Eaton and I closed out the evening taking in the sights, sounds and scene of Beale Street!

What an AWESOME day!!

Tomorrow, Lucas and I will bring it all together as we close out our first USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum!! Looking forward to taking everything we’ve learned back home and putting it into action for the Carpinteria Lions Club!

Day 1 of the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum 2026 was AWESOME! 🦁

What strikes me most about this event is how incredibly engaged Lions are!

We’ve met people from every corner of the U.S., Canada and around the world — and they’re all about engagement, support, service and helping others. That’s what being a Lion is all about!

We kicked off the morning with the “Rise and Roar Morning Radio Show,” hosted by PDG Anna Wickenhaiser and PDG John Jay Norby. It was entertaining, informative and highlighted the incredible lineup of educational sessions throughout the Forum — plus A LOT of raffle prizes. (Unfortunately, we didn’t win any! 😂)

Afterward, Lucas and I explored the exhibit hall, connected with exhibitors and sponsors, and tried to get into the Lions merchandise store. The line was HUGE, so we decided to come back later.

For lunch, since we’re in Memphis, we HAD to have BBQ! We found one of the highest-rated spots, The Bar-B-Q Shop, and the reviews weren’t kidding — the brisket, ribs and sauce were AMAZING! 🔥

After lunch, we attended the 1st Timer’s Session, which gave us a good overview of what to expect, followed by two excellent afternoon sessions — one for Club Presidents and another on Dealing with Resistance to Change.

Both were informative and, honestly, reinforced just how strong our Carpinteria Lions Club is!

After the sessions, the line at the merchandise store was gone, so we finally got in, did some shopping and hung out until it was time to head back and freshen up for the Opening Banquet.

And WOW! What an incredible evening. This was our first opportunity to see so many of the Lions attending the Forum all together.

We heard from Lions leaders, including International President Marc Lyon, as well as the Forum organizers and sponsors. But the most powerful part was simply meeting and connecting with Lions from clubs across the country.

What an AMAZING first day!

Looking forward to more learning, meeting and connecting with more Lions tomorrow!

Is this AWESOME or what?! 😁

1st Vice President Lucas Seehof and I are in Memphis, Tennessee, attending the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum 2026, and we’re thrilled to be here!!

Every year, Lions from across the US and Canada come together for this incredible 3-day event to connect, share ideas, learn from each other and build on the hundreds of years of combined experience Lions bring to service.

There are 70+ educational sessions covering leadership, membership, service, fundraising and so much more, all focused on helping us become better leaders so we can support our clubs and, in turn, serve our communities even better!!

We just arrived, getting settled and have already met some AWESOME Lions from across the country!! We’re looking forward to meeting many more and learning as much as we can over the next few days!!

This year is especially exciting for us because the Carpinteria Lions Club is celebrating 99 years of service as we gear up for our 100th Anniversary next year!!

Our theme this year is “Heart of a Lion — The Power of Community,” and there’s no better place to experience that than here with Lions from across the country!!

99 years serving Carpintetia… looking forward to 100 years… ❤️

We’re looking forward to an AWESOME three days of learning, connecting, sharing and, most importantly, serving!!

Amber’s Light Lions Club Is Awesome!

Every year, the Camarillo Amber's Light Lions Club hosts their annual Barn Dinner, and this year, four of us from the Carpinteria Lions Club—Stephen Joyce, Ray Lane, David Hayman, and I had the opportunity to attend.

We had an absolute blast!

Held in a real barn complete with genuine blacksmithing equipment, it was the perfect setting for a great event. The weather was beautiful, the atmosphere was fantastic, and the hospitality was Awesome!!!

Dinner included brisket, succotash (had to look that up 🤪😁), corn, coleslaw, salad, rolls, and pie for dessert - all perfectly prepared by Lions Scott and Kevin from the Oxnard/Channel Islands Lions Club.

Everything was delicious!

What makes events like this so much fun is the opportunity to spend time with Lion friends, make new ones, and enjoy the incredible fellowship that makes Lions Clubs so special.

Plus, it’s always awesome anytime we get to see Lions Norm and Cyndee McDaniel! ❤️

What an outstanding event! Thank you, Mary-Catherine and Amber’s Light Lions Club, for a fantastic Barn Dinner.

Check out the Lions District 4-A3 — 1st District Meeting & Installation of Officers

Today, Past President Butch Homer Clements, VP Mike Lee and I had the opportunity to represent the Carpinteria Lions Club at the Lions District 4-A3 1st District Meeting and Installation of Officers in Orcutt.

It was a great way to begin my year as President of the Carpinteria Lions and to connect with Lions from more than 20 clubs throughout our district.

The meeting included the installation of District Governor Denise Daniels and her Cabinet, conducted by Past District Governor Juanita Nichols. Congratulations, Denise, and to the entire incoming District 4-A3 leadership team!

It was also a great opportunity to hear about Lions Club International Foundation initiatives, district priorities, membership, Zone updates, and the incredible work being done by Lions throughout our communities.

District Governor Denise’s theme for the year, “Serving Our Communities with the Gift of Hope,” really resonates with us in Carpinteria. Our theme, “Heart of a Lion – The Power of Community,” supports that vision and reflects our commitment to putting it into action in Carpinteria.

The meeting was informative, the food was excellent, and the fellowship was even better!

Most of all, it was awesome meeting so many fellow Lions and sharing ideas about how we can continue to grow, serve and strengthen our communities.

Congratulations, Denise! We’re looking forward to a great 2026–2027 Lions year and to doing our part to make a difference in Carpinteria and beyond.

Tonight was Ladies Night at the Carpinteria Lions Club, and it was AWESOME!❤️

For us, Ladies Night is about celebrating the amazing women in our lives, our wives, partners, girlfriends, and friends and letting them know how much we appreciate everything they bring to our lives, our families, and our community.

It was a wonderful evening filled with drinks, lots of conversation, a lot of laughing, and some delicious food, teriyaki chicken, Asian rice salad, and Häagen-Dazs ice cream created by our lead chef Lucas Seehof and his cooking crew!! 😋

It was also a chance to share a little of what we do every Thursday, introduce everyone to the Lions family, and most importantly, spend time together and have some fun!

To all the incredible women who joined us tonight: Thank you for being part of our lives and for everything you do. We appreciate you more than you know! ❤️

Hi Everyone, meet Doug Treloar

Some people volunteer. Others leave a legacy.

This week, we want to introduce Lion Doug Treloar, who is celebrating 46 years as a member of the Carpinteria Lions Club after joining on July 1, 1980. Sponsored by then-President Tom Yanagahara, Doug joined with one simple goal:

“I wanted to do something for the community.”

Years later, Doug discovered that service was already part of his family’s history, his grandfather, Oscar Davidson, was one of the Charter Members of the Carpinteria Lions Club.

Doug’s life has been dedicated to serving others.

He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1968 earning the rank of Sergeant before receiving an Honorable Discharge.

Thank you, Doug, for your service to our country, and for continuing that spirit of service in everything you’ve done for your community, your fellow Lions, and the people of Carpinteria.

After returning home, Doug worked in banking before answering a different calling - becoming a firefighter with the Santa Barbara City and later Santa Barbara County Fire Departments. While working as a Fire Investigator, he rescued an infant from a burning building, earning the Medals of Valor from both the California State Fire Association and the County of Santa Barbara for his heroic actions.

His career also included owning and restoring a hotel in Idaho, serving as the first Safety Officer for Mission Linen, working as a Santa Barbara County Building Inspector, an Inspector at UCSB, an ISO Field Inspector, a Construction Inspector for County Savings & Loan, and later assisting his wife at her office of Donna Treloar CPA.

Within the Lions Club, Doug has been a true servant leader, serving as Club President (1991–1992), Secretary, District Treasurer, Zone Chair, and Club Historian.

For many years, he has also been the creator, writer, and editor of the Carpinteria Lions Club’s weekly Bull-A-Ton.

Doug’s award-winning newsletter has preserved our club’s history, celebrated our members, and kept Lions connected for decades. In recognition of its excellence, it received the Lions Club District’s top award.

One of Doug’s greatest gifts to our community stands just down the street. More than 30 years ago, he served as the lead construction coordinator for the Lions Park Community Building, helping build a facility that continues to serve thousands of people each year.

Doug’s dedication to Carpinteria was further recognized when he was named Carpinterian of the Year in 2002.

When asked what has driven him throughout his life, Doug’s answer says it all:

“Wanting to be helpful. Wanting to make a difference.”

Outside of Lions, Doug enjoys woodworking, spent 14 years driving for HELP of Carpinteria, and proudly describes himself as a minimalist, often throwing things away well before his wife, Donna, is ready!

Thank you, Lion Doug Treloar, for 46 years of service, leadership, friendship, and humility.

Supporting our community is our passion as Carpinteria Lions Club members, and supporting our Carpinteria FFA students couldn’t be higher on our list! 😊

Today, Past President David Seehof brought me to the Ventura County Fair Jr. Livestock Auction to experience firsthand why we’re so proud to support our Carpinteria FFA students and the hard work, dedication, and commitment they put into their livestock projects.

We met the Carpinteria FFA students and, during our visit, gave a $1,000 donation among the students to help offset some of the costs they invested in raising and caring for their livestock.

It was inspiring to see firsthand just how much work goes into these projects—not only by our Carpinteria FFA students, but by FFA students from throughout our area.

I got to be right in the middle of the action, attending the auction, roaming the paddocks, meeting the students, and experiencing the magnitude of this incredible event. (Growing up a city boy from New Jersey, this was AWESOME!!)

I can absolutely see why our Lions Club has proudly supported the Carpinteria FFA at the Jr. Livestock Auction every year. The energy, enthusiasm, hard work, and commitment of these FFA students was awesome to see!

Congratulations to everyone on a successful auction, and best wishes to all of our Carpinteria FFA students as they continue their journey and pursue their future goals!

It was an awesome experience, and I really appreciate David taking me through it and showing me what it’s all about!

On behalf of the members of the Carpinteria Lions Club and City of Hope, we want to thank the following District 4-A3 Lions Clubs for joining us this evening for our Annual Horseshoe Tournament fundraiser benefiting City of Hope.

Members from the Ventura Downtown Lions Club, Camarillo/Somis Pleasant Valley Lions Club, GGC Lions Club, Camarillo Amber's Light Lions Club, and ORCUTT LIONS CLUB, joined us for some friendly competition, our world-famous BBQ tri-tip, refreshments, plenty of laughter, good-natured banter, and an evening of fellowship.

We were also honored to have Lions District 4-A3 District Governor Denise Daniels and Zone Chair Jon Hergart join us for the evening. We appreciate their wonderful support and energy.

What made this evening even more special is that, thanks to the generosity of members from all of the clubs, we raised nearly $1,200 for City of Hope!

Consistent with our Heart of a Lion – The Power of Community theme, tonight reinforced that when Lions come together with a shared passion for service, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and have fun doing it!!

Thank you to all of our Brother and Sister Lions for making this year’s Horseshoe Tournament one of our best ever!

We always love seeing you, totally appreciate everything you do for your communities, and look forward to seeing you all again soon!! 😁

The Carpinteria Nonprofit Collaborative Council is AWESOME!

The Carpinteria Nonprofit Collaborative Council (CNPCC) is made up of local nonprofit organizations dedicated to serving the Carpinteria community and the people who live here.

As the new President of the Carpinteria Lions Club, I was invited by our good friend Kristina Calkins to attend their monthly gathering. It was a privilege to meet the leaders of so many outstanding organizations and hear about the incredible programs, events, and services they provide to our community.

I also had the opportunity to share the Carpinteria Lions Club’s vision for this year—“Heart of a Lion – The Power of Community.”

It fit perfectly with the spirit of collaboration and service that filled the room.
