Juneteenth is both a celebration and a reminder — a day to honor freedom, reflect on history, and recognize the ongoing work of building a more equitable future.

At Girls Inc. of Carpinteria, we believe learning about history helps girls better understand the world around them and their role in shaping what comes next. When girls are given space to ask questions, hear different stories, and recognize the contributions of those who came before them, they grow into more informed, compassionate, and confident leaders.

Today, we celebrate freedom, honor Black history and culture, and continue our commitment to creating spaces where every girl has the opportunity to thrive.

Courage can start small.

It can look like asking a question, sharing an idea, setting a boundary, or speaking up when something does not feel right.

At Girls Inc. of Carpinteria, we help girls build the confidence to use their voices — for themselves, for each other, and for the communities they are part of.

If you could go back and talk to your younger self, what would you say? 💛

We asked a few of our Girls Inc. of Carpinteria staff members to reflect on the advice, encouragement, and reminders they would give the younger versions of themselves — and their answers were thoughtful, honest, and full of heart.

We hope these words encourage the girls in our community to believe in themselves, embrace who they are, and know that they are capable of amazing things. ✨

National Children’s Day is a moment to pause and recognize the everyday support children need as they grow — encouragement, consistency, connection, and spaces where they feel comfortable being themselves.

At Girls Inc. of Carpinteria, we see how much those small moments matter. A caring adult who listens. A program that sparks curiosity. A friendship that helps a girl feel like she belongs.

Those are the moments that help young people build trust, confidence, and a stronger sense of who they are.

Summer in Carpinteria gives families so many simple ways to explore, move, read, and connect close to home.

We pulled together a few kid-friendly local spots that encourage curiosity, creativity, and time outside — all the things that help kids keep learning beyond the classroom.

Have a favorite Carpinteria activity or place to add to the list? We’d love to hear it in the comments.

Another school year, another chapter closed. 📖 ✨ Our girls are telling us about their favorite memories from the school year and the moments that fulfilled them.

These memories don’t just happen. They’re built with purpose — together. ❤️

We’re proud to have been with them along the way and looking forward to seeing where the next year takes them!

Summer is full of small moments that can help girls build confidence.

At Girls Inc. of Carpinteria, we know confidence does not grow from one big moment alone. It grows through everyday opportunities to make choices, ask questions, try again, and feel supported along the way.

Whether at home, at camp, or out in the community, these simple practices can help girls strengthen independence, curiosity, and self-trust all summer long.
