🌟 ARTIST SPOTLIGHT 🌟

👩‍🎨 Bonny Butler is an artist living and working in Oxnard, but whose striking work is often peppered throughout galleries in Santa Barbara County, including our very own Charles Lo Bue Gallery. 🖼️🏡💫

🪽Butler’s piece “Sky Birds” is a colorfully refreshing mixed media collage currently on view and available for purchase in our Carpinteria-themed “93013” Exhibition. Of the piece, Butler says the following: “I want this piece to feel eclectic and windswept, balancing chaos and harmony. (…) My collage process was inspired by the seagulls and open blue skies in 93013.” 🍃🎐🌬️🏙️

🌺Those familiar with Butler’s work can recognize her whimsical style by the floral and other natural motifs inspired by the California coast and depicted in her signature bold colors using mediums such as paper and fabric collage, pastel, cold wax, and more. As an artist, Butler focuses on colorful gestural figurative and abstract imagery, and is not afraid to get experimental. 🍂💐🖍️

🌟 Come see Bonny Butler’s work in person during our OPENING RECEPTION TOMORROW, June 13th from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM! The reception is free and open to the public, with complementary refreshments and a chance to meet with local artists. Hope to see you there! 🥂

🙌 CONGRATULATIONS to Gary Campopiano for winning the People’s Choice Award for our 2026 Palate to Palette Silent Auction Exhibition! 🎨Campopiano is a highly involved and beloved artist here at The Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center, and we are so fortunate to have him on our team.💙💛

🔎 This painting’s title “On Such A Winter’s Day” references lyrics from the song “California Dreamin’” by The Mamas & The Papas. 🎶 As the name suggests, the work depicts a vast, almost dream-like reflective view of three men out to surf on a gorgeous day that can peak out during any season— even winter! 🏄‍♂️☀️❄️

🏡 “On Such A Winter’s Day” has since sold as part of our Palate to Palette Silent Auction Exhibit, with 100% of the proceeds going toward creating a vibrant community of the ARTS via scholarships, free programs, concerts, community events, and more! Thank you Gary and all the other artists who donated their work to help us support this mission, we truly could not do what we do without you. ❤️💛💙

📆 Missed the Palate to Palette Exhibit? Don’t worry— there’s more art to come with our 🏝️“93013”🏝️Carpinteria Exhibit, OPENING THIS THURSDAY on JUNE 11TH, starting at 12:00 PM. And don’t miss our opening artist reception SATURDAY, JUNE 13TH from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM! 💫

The Quetzalcoatl mural is more than a public artwork — it is a symbol of community, culture, and generations working together.
It's first refurbishment took place in 2004 under the direction of artist Armando Vallejo. That project inspired local participation and helped spark what would become the Bellas Artes Program at the Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center.
Today, it is especially meaningful that Alicia Sanchez, now a Bellas Artes instructor, participated in that original effort as a child. Also, part of the 2004 refurbishment team was our dear CAC volunteer Geri Ann Campopiano.
We are grateful to the many contributors who have supported this mural project over the years, including Marty Selfridge, Kathleen Lord, Brian Mootz, Carpinteria Beautiful, and many dedicated community volunteers.

🎨 Calling all creative teens! Want your artwork displayed at the Arts Center for the next year? Now’s your chance!

Registration is open for the 2026 Teen Mural Project, and we're accepting the first 40 participants ages 11–19. This beloved Carpinteria tradition brings young artists together to create, connect, and leave a lasting mark on the community.

No experience? No problem! Artists of all skill levels are welcome. Participants will receive painting supplies, guidance from professional artists and volunteers, and their own mural panel to design based on this year’s theme. Each panel becomes part of a larger collaborative mural showcased at the Arts Center.

🎉 Join the Teen Mural Painting Party to meet fellow artists, paint together, and kick off the project in a fun, supportive environment.

Spots are limited to just 40 panels, so register early! Teens are also welcome to attend the painting party even if they don’t reserve a panel.

✨ Create. Connect. Be part of something bigger.
