Last week, our friends over at D300 Food Pantry distributed 150 "Happy Mother's Day" gift bags that we provided! As usual, our bags were chock full of necessities AND a few frivolities that hopefully made those mommas smile! 🥰😊🥰

🎉🎉CONGRATULATIONS VINCENT!! 🎉🎉
Vincent Carrozza, a soon-to-be graduate of Jacobs High School, was one of our winning scholarship applicants. Vincent will be continuing his education through Florida State University but spending his Freshman year abroad in Florence, Italy! Vincent will be studying business management with a possible long term goal of pursuing a law degree or an MBA. Vincent has a wide breadth of community service experience, but wrote very passionately about his volunteerism with Henry's Hustle 5K and Kids Dash - an annual event that raises money for muscular dystrophy research. Vincent was truly moved by the experience of meeting Henry, the event's namesake -- "After seeing Henry’s limitations, I was reminded that I should never take my own abilities for granted. As I stood there feeling thankful that I could run with my cousins that morning, it dawned on me that it is likely not a coincidence that the event is held on Thanksgiving Day each year. It serves as a reminder to everyone involved to be thankful for all that we have and appreciative of all those who work to benefit the community and those in need."

🎉🎉CONGRATULATIONS KENDALL!! 🎉🎉
Kendall, pictured here with the one and only Theresa Naaf, was one of our scholarship winners this year! She will soon be a Jacobs High School graduate and plans to continue her education at Iowa State University studying Communications and Political Science with a long term goal of becoming an attorney. While in high school, Kendall has spent a lot of time volunteer coaching D300 Special Olympic teams - basketball and track & field. She has also consistently volunteered in an adaptive PE class with special needs students. Kendall has had other experience in community service too and sums up her exposure to it all quite perfectly: "Service has taught me so much about the world around me, who I am as a person, and who I want to become. I want to be known as someone who is kind, who is helpful, who is a hard worker, who stands up for others, who encourages others, and who has the drive to become a better person."
