Today is D-Day, the start of the invasion that liberated Western Europe from the N***s.
The Battle of Normandy, known as D-Day, took place over 80 years ago on June 6, 1944, when Allied forces launched a combined naval, air, and land strike against the German forces in World War II. History views it as a turning point of the war. Many lives were lost, but many were saved due to the service and sacrifices of our servicemembers. Below is the start of the speech given to the allied forces before the Normandy landing by General Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Thank ALL of our veterans.

Just a quick reminder that tonight is Taco Night at the American Legion, Post #503, from 4:00-7:00 PM. And it's too hot to stay home & cook!
Three tacos for $7, two for $5 or a $7 taco bowl (my favorite!).
Open to the public.

Memorial Day is the nation's foremost annual day to mourn and honor our deceased service men and women.

Originally called Decoration Day, it was formalized by a "Memorial Day Order" issued by Grand Army of the Republic Commander-in-Chief John A. Logan in 1868.

The modern proclamation calls on Americans "to observe Memorial Day by praying, according to their individual religious faith, for permanent peace."

Memorial Day honors the sacrifice and loss of those who served and died in the U.S. military. For some, the meaning of Memorial Day is deeply personal. It is a day to mourn a loved one who died in service to our nation. Additionally, it is NOT appropriate to say “Happy Memorial Day,” but rather, use a more reflective greeting to remember those who have given their lives in defense of our freedoms, such as “Have a meaningful Memorial Day.”
Seek ways to honor our nation’s heroes who died in service to our great nation. Plan a visit to a military cemetery or war memorial, attend local activities hosted by local veteran groups, or simply take a moment to learn more about those who serve our nation. Together, we can reignite the true purpose of Memorial Day – never allowing ourselves to forget the ultimate sacrifice made by our fallen heroes and their families.
