Periods of whiteout (blizzard) conditions are likely today through Friday night, especially in open areas. North to south oriented roads will be the most susceptible to more frequent blizzard conditions and large snow drifts due to strong winds from the west-northwest gusting as high as 50 to 55 mph.
With wind chills as low as 35 to 40 below zero late tonight through Friday morning, getting stranded in these conditions can be deadly! Avoid non-essential travel if at all possible. If you must travel, let loved ones know of your plans and pack an emergency kit in your vehicle.
A Blizzard WARNING is in effect for Porter County, Indiana from 3pm this afternoon through 6am Saturday.
