Waterman Foundation Tahoe Today, the (501c3 Non-Profit) organization lives with the mission of HEALING WITH THE POWER OF WATER THROUGH PADDLE SPORTS.

The Tahoe Waterman Foundation provides the opportunity for people of all ages with life-changing injuries and challenges to access the healing power of water through paddle sports. The Lake Tahoe Foundation provides opportunities for people of all ages with life-changing injuries and challenges to access the healing power of water through paddle sports. In collaboration with Tahoe Waterman's Landi

ng in Carnelian Bay, the foundation provides resources and educational programs with the objective of creating positive changes for those facing life-changing challenges. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization since 2014, Lake Tahoe Waterman Foundation has helped countless kids and Veterans to find joy and love in paddle sports. With the collaboration of Tahoe Waterman, a leader in paddle sports education, coaching, and water safety, The Foundation aims to change the lives of many, one stroke at a time. Water has long been known to have a calming and therapeutic effect on the human body. Scientific studies have shown that spending time near, in, on, or under water can offer a variety of physical, mental, and emotional benefits. For example, it can decrease stress and anxiety levels, improve mood, and increase physical activity and abilities. Additionally, it can help to improve cognitive functioning, increase creativity, and even help with self-confidence. Furthermore, being near water can improve concentration and help to promote a sense of relaxation, connection, and well-being. It's no surprise that spending time in or near water can make us happier, healthier, and more connected! The Lake Tahoe Waterman Association was created in 2010 with the passion of Anik and Jay Wild for paddling and the Lake Tahoe mountain lifestyle. Founded by elite athletes, the initial premise was to get kids on the water enjoying human-powered ocean paddle sports.

We want to share a special thank you to everyone who came out for our traditional Ho‘ola‘a Wa‘a (Canoe Blessing) at Watermans Landing - Tahoe Waterman last weekend to welcome our three new adaptive and community outrigger canoes to Lake Tahoe.

The Waterman Foundation is founded on the belief that everyone should have access to the incredible healing powers of Lake Tahoe’s waters. We believe deeply in outrigger canoe tradition and embracing the spirit of the paddlecraft we use to help everyone experience the lake.

Our friends, family, and Lake Tahoe paddle community gathered to offer gratitude, honor tradition and our ancestors, and welcome these three beautiful spirits to Lake Tahoe’s clear blue pristine waters.

These new canoes represent access, healing, inclusion, and what is possible when our community comes together with support from incredible fundraising organizations like the Tahoe Fund, Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation, Tahoe Community Foundation, North Tahoe Community Alliance, High Fives Foundation, and Alpenglow Sports Donor Party.

We can’t say thank you enough to everyone who helped bring this vision to life, including our longtime partners at California Tahoe Conservancy for their focus on increasing access to Lake Tahoe and our surrounding forests for historically underserved and excluded people and communities by providing grants for programs and projects that address economic, physical, social, cultural, or other barriers to accessing the Basin.

Today’s the day! We are excited to officially launch “Healing Waters, Paddle Together” - our version of a campaign to raise $40,000 to bring a new 6-person Adaptive Outrigger Canoe to Lake Tahoe!

For adaptive athletes, local youth, veterans, first-responders, and community members of all ages and abilities, our paddling programs offer more than just time on the water - they offer healing, belonging, growth, and a path to personal confidence and better mental and physical health.

Together, with your help, we can help more people get out on the water and create meaning experiences that last a lifetime!

An outrigger canoe doesn’t move unless everyone paddles and everyone contributes to the greater goal to move forward and succeed together!

We hope you’ll consider a donation this giving season through our link in our bio. Thank you!!

Looking back on some of the incredible moments from our 2025 Adaptive Paddling Program as we launch this season’s Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation giving season.

Special thanks to our longtime partners at High Fives Foundation for sharing our mission with this amazing community of athletes and helping us create this opportunity to introduce the Adaptive Training Foundation to the healing power of paddling on Lake Tahoe.

This is the “why” behind our programs and these are the moments your generosity makes possible.

Thanks to the Tahoe Fund, Alpenglow Sports, California Tahoe Conservancy, Tahoe Community Foundation, and every donor, volunteer, coach, and supporter who showed up this summer — this is the impact you created! These smiles, that confidence on the water, that spark you see… it exists because of you!

Together, we can turn opportunity into impact. Thank you!
