Northern California Arts, Inc. ~ NCA is one of the largest, most dynamic Northern Cal Art organizati Northern California Arts, Inc.

NCA is one of the largest, most dynamic nonprofit art organizations in the Sacramento Region. It was founded in 1939 by a group of fine artists whose mission it was to promote the appreciation of and the participation in the visual arts and to spearhead art education
in our community. These goals still hold true today. The number of members increases each year
and is composed of approximately one hundred sixty artists and friends of artists. Our group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 PM. We are located at The Sacramento Fine Arts Center 5330-B Gibbons Drive, Carmichael, CA 95608 The following is our guest speakers who will provide the assembly with training and/or demonstrations. These meeting are free to all and guests are welcome.

At the Sacramento Fine Arts Center, Carmichael, CA, Northern California Arts (NCA) had a great October general meeting, with Helen Plenert of Helen Plenerts Studio, and the Bold Expressions 2026 judge, discussing her judging criteria and philosophy.

Andrea Morris was awarded her 3rd level, Senior Signature Artist certificate, in the Artist Standing program. Carl Henriet and Ashleigh Anderson were awarded their first level Artist Standing certificates. Artist of the month had 21 entries this month!

Skip Lee won with a landscape acrylic work. Each Artist of the Month winner’s art piece hangs for one month in the Sacramento Fine Art Center Studio. Karen Finley facilitated a critique session running with
the artist of the month contest. Evelyn Adams, supervising member assistance, did her usual stellar job of hospitality, setting up the table
of member provided refreshments.

The reception, at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center, in Carmichael, CA, for Bold Expressions 2026 went fantastic this past Saturday. The show is the international juried show hosted by Northern California Arts Inc. Show chair, Gregory Smith, was the Master of Ceremonies, and passed out the awards, judge Helen Plenert, Helen Plenerts Studio, and Paul Dessau assisting. David Peterson created a slide of the works, the catalog, and is always the dependable sound man. Evelyn Adam did her usual fantastic job of hosting the food, beverages, and w**e. The attendance was fantastic, including, non included artists, and guests. The show remains up for most of October. Make sure to make plans to see this show!

At the Sacramento Fine Arts Center, Northern California Arts (NCA) had a great September general meeting this past Wednesday. Raina Montgomery, a well known glass artist demonstrating her craft. Susan Giles was awarded her 3rd level, Senior Signature Artist , in the Artist Standing program. Artist of the month had 13 entries this month! Ann Bisset Clark won with a white water river watercolor. Each Artist of the Month winner’s art piece hangs for one month in the Sacramento Fine Art Center Studio. Karen Finley facilitated a critique session running with the artist of the month contest. Evelyn Adams, supervising member assistance, did her usual stellar job of hospitality, setting up the table of member provided refreshments. The raffle was a hit!

At, the Sacramento Fine Arts Center, Carmichael, CA, Northern California Arts (NCA) had a great May general meeting, with Yoshio Taylor , prominent California sculptor, discussing his art and art vision. Andrea Morris, Linda Ball, and Kirk Rosenkranz, were all awarded Artist Standing certificates. Artist of the month had 11 entries this month! Since NCA general meetings go on haitus during the summer months, the 1st second, and third place winners show for each of the summer months, the winners being, Andrea Morris, Rebecca Guinn, and Penny Hanscom. Each Artist of the Month winner’s art piece hangs for one month in the Sacramento Fine Art Center Studio. Karen Finley facilitated a critique session running with the artist of the month contest. Evelyn Adams, supervising member assistance, did her usual stellar job of hospitality, setting up the table of member provided refreshments.

Drumroll please. Announcing the Peoples Choice Award for the 2026 Northern California Arts, Inc. Members Show. The winner is Ashleigh Anderson for “Delicate Arch”, an oil on canvas. Congrats Ashleigh! The voting was very diverse during the three weeks of the exhibit. There were 74 votes distributed among 35 art works.

Peoples Choice Award was sponsored by Elise Reilly.

Out in our community spreading the love of art! Yesterday Northern California Arts (NCA) reps hosted an annual watercolor hand on activity for kids, at an annual kids fair that takes place at Carmichael’s Montessori School. Here we are posing after the conclusion of the activity.
