A series of informational workshops have been scheduled to help employees of Champion Labs learn about services available under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. These sessions will provide guidance on career counseling, job search assistance, education and retraining opportunities, and unemployment insurance assistance.

Presenters include the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Southern 14 Workforce Investment Board, Illinois Eastern Community Colleges, US Department of Labor/Employee Benefits Security Administration, and the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

Thursday, March 5, 10 AM for people with last names beginning with letters A-E
Thursday, March 5, 1:30 PM for people with last names beginning with letters F-J
Friday, March 6, 10 AM for people with last names beginning with letters K-O
Friday, March 6, 1:30 PM for people with last names beginning with letters P-T
Monday, March 9, 10 AM for people with last names beginning with letters U-Z
Monday, March 9, 1:30 PM for anyone who could not attend the previous sessions

PURPOSE OF THE WORKSHOP

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 provides the framework for a unique national workforce preparation and employment system. This system was designed to meet the needs of job seekers and for those who want to further their careers.

You will not want to miss this opportunity to learn about your options. Attendees will receive information on unemployment insurance, and job search assistance from Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) - College information from Illinois Eastern Community Colleges - and the local workforce training services that are available under WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act), information from the US Department of Labor regarding health insurance and retirement benefits, as well as information on other community services provided by Wabash Area Development. Dean L. Rogan Sr. was born in Peoria. In 1965, Dean was the first African American honor graduate from Brooke Army Medical Field Service School in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was also a recipient of the prestigious Project 500 program for Afro-American scholars.

His experience includes over 50 years of practice in retail pharmacy, and practice practice in military and civilian hospital pharmacy. He is a Registered Pharmacist and the owner of Rogan’s Country Pharmacy in Pulaski IL and is currently the Mayor of the Village of Pulaski. Dean currently serves on the SIDEZ (Southern Illinois Delta Empowerment Zone) Board of Directors and is a member of the five county Regional Board of education #30. He is also a member of the Southern 14 Workforce Investment Board LWIB #26 and serves as chairman.

One of Dean’s most significant accomplishments while in office has been the establishment of the Village Park. The park houses a community center, provides access to the internet, hosts organizational meetings, and community events such as the “Pulaski Back to School Bash.” It is also available for family reunions. The Village Park provides a full-length basketball court and other recreational equipment for community use.

Dean has been married to Rev. Alice Rogan for 50 years. Together they have one daughter and 3 sons.
