Pinch of rabbit to***co, anyone? (Spoiler alert: bunnies don’t actually smoke this!) 🚬🐰💨

This California native, also known as sweet everlasting, is actually a sunflower varietal that’s often found in dry chaparral and sunny hillsides. It has a variety of “folk uses,” including antibacterial and throat-soothing properties, but as soon as we see it pop up we know our nose is in for a treat… even dried, it smells like maple syrup!!

It’s infused here in a little jar of sweet almond oil, ready to use on a rainy day. But don’t just take our word for it- remember to check with your trusted doctors and/or herbworkers before integrating it into your medicine cabinet.

The Summer 2025 Peacemaking Program is an innovative pilot program that aims to empower emerging leaders from unrecognized Tribes and Nations in the Central Coast of California.

Designed by the Itsu Circle (a fiscally sponsored group at the Healing and Reconciliation Institute), with peacemaking services by HRI, the camp will serve up to 30 young emerging leaders ages 18-24, focusing on peacework, healing and reconciliation skill sets, cultural traditions, and concepts and skill building that will guide them as they transition into adulthood.

Please join us in fundraising for the Summer 2025 Peacemaking Program by making a donation today (through Dec 31 at 5pm) at mcgives.com/reconcile 🪶

It’s a beautiful day here on Native lands (and waters) 🌞

For those of whom this is a season of giving: how are you giving back to the lands you reside on and/or call home, wherever that may be? How are you supporting Native sovereignty on those lands?

Later today we’ll share one idea on how you can uplift emerging Native leaders and lands (support our MC Gives drive!) but until then, this is just some food for thought. Take a nibble (or a whole delicious bite) and let us know what answers you come up with in the comments 👇🏼

We’ve been holding this project close to our hearts for quite some time… and now it’s time to share it with you all!!

Together with Itsu Circle (a 100% Native, women-led, fiscally sponsored council) we’re bringing together
🍂 Community workers,
🍂 Culture bearers,
🍂 Peacemakers,
🍂 and Healers
in summer 2025. We’ll be sharing more information soon but, until then, here’s how you can help: Thanks to , all donations of $500+ (made by 5pm on Oct 31) will be MATCHED at no additional cost to the donor!!

We estimate that $500 loosely equals one emerging leader’s attendance at this program (which is offered at no cost to the participants). That means an MC Gives Challenge Gift donation of $500 can sponsor not one, but TWO attendees thanks to matched donations!! $1000 will sponsor four attendees, $2000… well… that’s big math for us, but that would have a HUGE and life-changing impact 💗

First Nations People

Our promise and our request for help and guidance are to restore the order of things, for our events, by starting with the First Nations people. We dream for a future where we can gather in our diverse communities, and tell the story of these old harms, to use our bodies and our artistic expression to artfully and deeply tell these stories, to transform and transmute these past harms into our future wisdom, for the greater community to participate by bearing witness and sharing in the voyage, through the process of community reconciliation.
