Our Story
The Eagle Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol was chartered on 13 Jun 2012, and is one of about 20 units in the state of Indiana. The Civil Air Patrol itself was chartered by Congress on 1 Dec 1941, as part of the War Department, just days before Pearl Harbor. During WWII, the Civil Air Patrol provided coastal patrols and other missions to secure the United States. CAP is credited with sinking two German U-boats during the war. In 1947 CAP became the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force, and our mission was changed to humanitarian. We have three core missions: 1) Cadet Programs, 2) Aerospace Education, and 3) Emergency Services. Members form our unit have been involved with several missions both locally and nationally. We have a cadet program for youth from 12-18 where they participate in leadership, physical fitness, aerospace education, character development, military drill, and much more! We meets Tuesdays from 6-830pm at Indianapolis Executive Airport, 11329 E State Road 32, Zionsville, IN. Our meetings are open to the public, and anyone is welcome to attend to learn more about Civil Air Patrol and what we do in the local community.
