Ever look at kids and think, “What could possibly be so important on that phone?” 🤳
Sometimes it’s a ridiculous video.
Sometimes it’s 47 messages about absolutely nothing.
But sometimes, it’s where they feel connected. Included. Understood.
What looks meaningless to us can mean everything to them.
A game can be their hangout.
A group chat can be their lunch table.
A meme can say, “This made me think of you.”
So, when we say, “just log off,” they may hear, “Walk away from your friends.”
Understanding those connections helps us set boundaries, recognize risks, and have conversations that kids are more willing to join.
Start with curiosity: “What’s something adults misunderstand about what kids do online?”
Then go deeper: “How could that misunderstanding make it harder for kids to ask for help when something goes wrong?”
Online safety can feel overwhelming. Be BRAVE offers practical skills to help kids stay safe online and topics for you to keep the conversation going. No tech expertise required. 💙
