Mental health support can take many forms, and Community Health Workers (CHWs) can play an important role in helping individuals and communities access behavioral health resources, education, advocacy, and support services. đź’š

CHWs are trained professionals who support a wide range of health and community needs, including health education, chronic disease management, care coordination, resource navigation, and addressing social determinants of health. They can also help bridge gaps in mental and behavioral health support by connecting individuals to resources, reducing barriers to care, promoting mental health awareness, and encouraging individuals to seek support when needed.

As conversations surrounding mental health continue to grow, so does the need for compassionate, knowledgeable professionals who can help strengthen community wellbeing and improve access to care and support services.

If you are interested in learning more about Community Health Worker certification training opportunities or careers in behavioral health and community health, we encourage you to connect with us for additional information at WWW.ASPINCHW.ORG.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. đź’š
Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder to pause and honestly check in with ourselves about how we are doing mentally and emotionally, not just physically. It is also an opportunity to support one another through empathy, conversation, and connection while continuing to normalize discussions surrounding mental health, seeking professional support when needed, and advocating for greater awareness and access to mental health resources and services.

Mental health is an essential part of overall health and wellbeing. It impacts individuals, families, workplaces, schools, and communities every day. Continued awareness and open dialogue play an important role in reducing stigma and fostering supportive communities where individuals feel encouraged to seek help when needed.

This month, let’s continue prioritizing mental wellbeing, supporting one another, and advocating for accessible, compassionate mental health care and resources for all. 💚

Not sure if it's serious enough? If it matters to you, it matters.

This , remember - your feelings don't need to be "serious enough" to deserve care. You deserve support, always. đź’š

This National Apprenticeship Week 2026, we're proud to highlight the impact of the U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) and the role it plays in building strong, sustainable career pathways.

ASPIN has led the way as the first organization in Indiana to launch a U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program for Certified Community Health Workers (CCHWs) in 2020—creating an accessible and supported entry point into the behavioral health workforce.

Our program goes beyond training. It’s an earn-and-learn model that combines:
✔️ Virtual, comprehensive CHW instruction
✔️ 2,080 hours of paid, on-the-job learning
✔️ Career Mentorship from ASPIN instructors and employer journeyworkers
✔️ Nationally recognized Certificate of Completion of Registered Apprenticeship Program

ASPIN's impact so far:
📍 76 active employer partner sites
🎓 94+ CCHW RAP Apprentice graduates now serving communities across Indiana
👩‍⚕️ 22 apprentices currently enrolled

Community Health Workers are essential to improving health outcomes—serving as trusted connectors between individuals, resources, and care. Through apprenticeship, we’re not just training a workforce—we’re strengthening communities.
We’re proud to continue expanding access to meaningful careers while supporting employers and meeting real community needs.
