This award is given in memory of former SEPTO President Jennifer Cusumano. In every facet of life, Jenn was a pillar of strength, information, and humor. She always had creative ideas for improving special education in Mahopac. Always thinking outside the box, using her amazing sense of detail she created opportunities from the ground up, ensuring what needed to happen to promote inclusion. She worked tirelessly within SEPTO, the district, and in the community to inform and enlighten parents and members about special needs resources.

Jenn had a huge heart, a smile that would light up the room, was a friend to everyone she met and left a huge impact of solidarity, support and strength to all that crossed her path. The recipient of this award shares in Jenn's approach to daily life, celebrating the unique abilities of others, while empowering joyful inclusion for all.

Just a reminder our January meeting is TOMORROW at 7pm at the Falls School.

We are so happy to have our transition counselor, Geri Healy, with us THIS WEDNESDAY to present a session on secondary transition planning and post-secondary services. You definitely don't want to miss this. If you think it's too early to think about life after graduation, trust me, it's not. When you have a child with an IEP, 504 or other special needs, you need to start thinking about what the plan is after high school much sooner. There is a Google Meet link for those who wish to join us virtually. We hope to see many of you next week!!

Being a parent or caregiver of a child or adult with special needs can be incredibly rewarding — and incredibly exhausting. Some days feel heavy, and others leave you wondering “Am I doing this right?” You are not alone, and you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself. 💙

I am here for you- with of 15 years of experience, in home, in the community, working at day programs, group homes, and a now for the past 5 years a special education teacher with extensive behavior support experience, and years of working closely with BCBAs. I’ve had the privilege of supporting many families through both the challenging moments and the joyful wins.

My parent Support classes are a safe, welcoming space created just for you. If this sounds like something your family could benefit from, I’d love to connect. Email me or send me a message to learn more about the parent support classes, private pay options, and self-direction billing.
