Today - we had a wonderful group of volunteers who came together at Gethsemane Lutheran Church on E. 10th Street to help the dogs!

*330 dogs were vaccinated against parvo🐕 Thank you Petco Love for providing these life saving vaccines!

*331 dogs vaccinated against rabies! 🐶 Thank you to the family of Bob King who provided the rabies vaccines in his memory.

Thank you for those who came out today, those who shared the flyer and those who volunteered.

There is not another one currently scheduled - let’s get through the heat and will likely hit the westside in the fall.

We got it! Thank you!

This is Momma Cat and she has a litter, but the folks caring for her want this to be her LAST litter!

We would like to get her fixed this coming week!

Low income family in Mars Hill and they don’t want more kittens!

Would you help us? We are looking for $80 to get her all fixed up 🙂. Thank you!

Yesterday, we had the honor of assisting along with the amazing vets and staff IndyHumane a dog named Syxx who had a case of pyometra.

Any longer and this would have been a very bad outcome, but she is home now and doing much better.

I need to check, but this is either case 7 or 8 of Pyometra this year for us.

Spay those females please - it is more than preventing puppies. It’s long term health and major major money.

***Picture is before and not after - dad is reporting that she is eating and much more active already! 🙏🤞

Our last pet for the week was Pipsqueak and this young thing under 1 year had herself a case of pyometra!

She will be fine now though. Thank you again to IndyHumane who saved another life! Not sure if I have said how much I appreciate them yet this week! Pip’s mom was also a joy to work with as well.

Remember vaginal discharge is something to take note of and not to wait on…can prevent all of this stuff if a female cat or dog is just spayed.

Good post and many of those “accidental” litters are blamed on the neighbors or that “stray”. Protect your own dog please!

“But she never leaves my yard.”

Neither do a lot of the dogs and cats contributing to Indiana’s pet overpopulation crisis… until instinct kicks in, a gate gets left open, a fence gets climbed, or another animal finds a way in.

This is the reality shelters and rescues across Indiana are dealing with every single day. Thousands of unwanted litters. Overflowing shelters. Healthy, adoptable animals with nowhere to go.

A fence is not a spay/neuter plan.

The only humane, effective, and affordable way out of this crisis is prevention. Spay/neuter keeps pets healthier, reduces roaming and fighting, prevents unwanted litters, and saves lives before animals ever end up in a shelter.

Willa May was our cat for today and have a cat for tomorrow with possible pyometra at 6 months old 😳

Once again - vets and staff at IndyHumane’s Downtown Clinic are amazing lifesavers!

This is a holiday weekend so remember you have 2 days max to get your pet into a regular vet.

Spay spay spay - no matter the age!
