Info on January 25th Meeting "Belden House Resident Rally":
A special thanks to all who were able to attend the “Belden House kicking off the New Year" event. It was because of you - our meeting was a success.
This outline below briefly describes the discussions of the January 25th meeting. Details of the entire meeting as well as an informational packet, handed out at the meeting, can be found on https://friendsofbeldenhouse.org/ under “HOME” & “UPDATES” tab.
Meeting objective: to inform all on our progress and future goals for “Belden House.”
1) DEP litigation discussion: included details of the Sept. 2023 “Friends of Belden House Inc.” & Ann Fanizzi file lawsuit against DEP and its failure to “keep the residence in good condition.”
2) Town, County, State obligation to save Belden House discussion: included Carmel passing a resolution calling for the preservation and restoration of Belden House. Assemblyman Matt Slater advocating to NYC for this resolution. County legislature sent a letter to DEP urging them to rehabilitate Belden House. NYCDEP commissioner’s response.
3) Detailing “FOBH” vision and charting course: included FOBH issuing grants, begin fund raising, rallies, additional meetings, possible leasing Belden House, options for future use of Belden House.
4) The community speaks out: included numerous great ideas for Belden House future and offering to call and send letters to local and state officials.
