If there is such a thing as a blessing for a new beginning, we think three sevens might be it.

This past Saturday, our community came together for Ukrainian Indiana's Got Talent, a fundraiser and celebration in support of the newly established Anna Yaroslavna Ukrainian School of Indiana. Thanks to an incredible outpouring of support, we are thrilled to announce that together we raised **$7,707** โ€” making this the most successful fundraising event in the history of the Ukrainian Society of Indiana.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude.

๐Ÿ™ Thank you to our Match Challenge donor Adrienne Quill.
๐Ÿ™ Thank you to our major donor Joshua Matthews.
๐Ÿ™ Thank you to every person who attended, donated, bid in the auction, purchased food, voted for performers, volunteered, and cheered from the audience.

๐ŸŒปโœจ Happy Vyshyvanka Day, Indiana! โœจ๐ŸŒป

Today, Ukrainians around the world are celebrating one of our most beautiful traditions: the ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ vyshyvanka โ€” embroidered shirts that carry generations of history, identity, resilience, and love.

And we have a special way for our community to continue the celebration next week ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ“ธ At our May 30 fundraiser and grand opening for the Anna Yaroslavna Ukrainian School of Indiana, we will have:
โœจ a beautiful Ukrainian-themed photo booth

โœจ and the chance to take gorgeous portraits in your vyshyvankas!

For just ๐Ÿ’ต $5, youโ€™ll receive professional photos โ€” and every dollar will support the Ukrainian School fundraiser ๐ŸŒป

So dust off your favorite vyshyvanka, bring your family and friends, and come celebrate Ukrainian culture, community, and the next generation with us.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆโœจ What does it mean to grow up during war?

The newest issue of The Ultimate Ukrainian โ€” Issue โ€™25 โ€” is dedicated to the courage, resilience, and dreams of Ukraineโ€™s youth. Through deeply personal stories, essays, and reflections, young Ukrainians share what it means to study under air raid sirens, support their families, rebuild their communities, and imagine a future despite the devastation surrounding them.

This issue highlights the voices of a generation that refuses to give up. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

Inside, youโ€™ll find powerful pieces on:
๐Ÿ“š Education during wartime
๐Ÿง  Mental health and resilience of Ukraineโ€™s โ€œGeneration Alphaโ€
โšฝ Sports and community as lifelines for children
๐Ÿ—๏ธ Youth-led rebuilding efforts in places like Borodianka
๐ŸŽ–๏ธ Young cadets choosing military service to defend Ukraineโ€™s future
๐ŸŒ Forced educational migration and displacement
๐Ÿ“ฑ Ukrainian youth culture and social media voices
โ€ฆand so much more.

We encourage our community to read, share, and reflect on these stories. Supporting Ukraine also means listening to the voices of its next generation. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

This issue is dedicated to the most precious gem of Ukraine โ€“ its youth. Ukraineโ€™s kids, teenagers, students, and military cadets are telling their stories of stoicism, resilience, and love for their land. How do they survive the devastation around them and the death of people dear to their hear...

๐Ÿ“š This weekend, Ukrainian Society of Indiana Book Club gathered to discuss the first half of the first tome of Sisters Richynski by Iryna Vilde โ€” and what a thoughtful conversation it was. โœจ

Our discussion explored:
๐ŸŒป the role of women in society
๐ŸŒป patriarchy and generational expectations
๐ŸŒป nature vs. nurture
๐ŸŒป childhood experiences and identity
๐ŸŒป Ukraineโ€™s history nearly 100 years ago, when Ukrainian lands were divided between Poland and the Soviet Union โ€” and how those historical realities still echo today ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

One of the things we value most about our Book Club is how literature becomes a bridge to deeper conversations, meaningful reflection, and genuine community connection. ๐Ÿ’™

We are so grateful to everyone who joined, shared their perspectives, and made the evening so engaging. Several participants admitted they stayed up late finishing the assigned reading because they were so invested โ€” which we consider the highest compliment a book club can receive. ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ“–

Interested in joining us for future discussions? We would love to welcome new members! Whether you are an avid reader, reconnecting with Ukrainian literature, or simply looking for thoughtful community conversations, our Book Club is open to all. โœจ

Andโ€ฆ stay tuned ๐Ÿ‘€
Later this year, we are planning a very special Book Club session that will also be open to our English-speaking community. We cannot wait to share more soon. ๐Ÿ’›
