As of today, we will no longer be collecting plastic lids/caps. The recycling center we take them to is closing. Thanks to everyone for collecting for us over the past few years.

UPDATE: Citizens for Carlyle Parks just found out that the location they take the plastic lids to, will be permanently closing down on October 1st. Due to this new information we will no longer be accepting lids at any of our locations as of today, September 2, 2022. We apologize for the short notice, but we would like to thank each and everyone of you that has helped with this program.

As of October 1, 2022, Citizens for Carlyle Parks will no longer be collecting plastic lids/caps. You can currently drop off lids at City Hall, the Case-Halstead Library, and the City Park, however those locations will no longer be accepting them as of October 1st.

We want to thank everyone that brought in lids to be recycled. And a BIG thank you to the Citizens for Carlyle Parks for their years of hard work on getting these lids transformed into efficient park accessories. The picnic tables and trash cans will provide years of use.

We are one week away from the Parks & Recreation pool referendum vote. You can only vote on the referendum if you live in the city limits of Carlyle. You can vote early at the courthouse, or at the polls on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. If you do not wish to declare a party, you can ask for a Non-Partisan Ballot, but you will only be permitted to vote solely on the referendum with this ballot.

Last year at the June 14, 2021, regular City Council Meeting, the Carlyle Pool Committee put on a presentation for the City Council detailing the proposed new aquatic facility shown in the image below. The presentation included the history and current conditions/issues of the Carlyle City Pool, design of the proposed new aquatic facility, and potential funding options.

The proposed facility features a zero-depth entry with multiple new recreational features for all ages, a six-lane competition pool, and is fully ADA accessible for people of all ages and abilities. The facility also utilizes the existing pool house and concessions area. A full-sized foam board of the proposed facility is on display and available for viewing during regular hours at the Case Halstead Public Library.

The Pool Committee proposed funding the facility through a combination of a capital/donation campaign, grant funding, and a 0.5% increase in sales tax (50 cents on $100 spent).

Feel free to reach out to the Mayor, Aldermen, City Administrator, or Park Director with any questions.
