Carlstadt Turnverein

Carlstadt Turnverein Community mixed chorus celebrating German-American heritage since 1931. Carlstadt Turnverein established in 1857. It's a place of friendship and Gemuetlichkeit.

"In Freud und Leid zum Lied bereit" (In happiness and sorrow we'll still sing tomorrow.) With this as our motto, a small group of men formed a cultural music group in 1931 which they called the "Carlstadt Männer Chor" (men's chorus). Soon after, the "Carlstadt Damen Chor" (ladies' chorus) was established. The two groups united and became known as the Carlstadt Mixed Chorus. Since 1931, our members

have performed concerts, musical variety shows, church concerts, memorial tributes, and at informal gatherings. The chorus has won many awards in Music Festivals. Our beautiful Turn Hall, perched high in the hills of Carlstadt overlooking shimmering New York City, is home to rehearsals every Tuesday night, and numerous social events throughout the year. Our present-day Music Director is the talented Ms. Johanna Teubner-Prussak.
