Tonight’s Rotary Club of Carlsbad featured Bill Miles, COO of the San Diego Football Club.
Bill told the story of the SD Footballs involvement with an affiliated organization called “Right to Dream”, which provides athletic, educational, and leadership opportunities to young people in various countries around the world. We also had another fantastic Carlsbad Wine & Food Fest update from event chief Dawn Whelan Van Siclen . Over 300 tickets already sold (versus 100 at this time last year). Go team, go!
Malena Bennett also gave a Rotary Camp Pendleton update regarding the Warrior Warehouse.

Rotary Club of Carlsbad had a terrific happy hour Thursday at Manka, a new Peruvian restaurant at 3055 Harding St., in Carlsbad.
The restaurant even opened early just for us! They will be one of our premiere food vendors at Carlsbad Wine and Food Festival next month. If you are at all curious about causa, anticuchos, and jalea, this is the place to be! Manka Peruvian Cuisine

In late January, our club sent a team of hard working Rotarians to Tecate, Mexico, where they built a house in a day, changing the lives of a multigenerational family in need. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this heartwarming mission.

Another action packed Rotary Club of Carlsbad meeting tonight. Several updates including the upcoming Carlsbad Wine and Food Festival . Dawn Whelan Van Siclen recognized the all star team helping to make the event a big success, expecting over 800 attendees. Wowzer! Then a most excellent presentation and story from Debbie Friedman about what it was like to be one of the first women lifeguards in California in the 1970s.
