Bikes for the Barrio has been working through the Carlsbad Hi Noon Rotary Club and in conjunction with the Carlsbad Christmas Bureau is committed to delivering a bicycle to every child and family in Carlsbad that simply cannot afford them on their own. We believe that not only do bicycles contribute to good fitness and exercise they also are vital in many other areas of a child’s life. Imagine being that young child that cannot get out and ride bikes with the other kids in the neighborhood, or cannot participate in other activities because they may not have a way to get to practice or meetings. Imagine that family that just wants to ride together and get an ice cream or watch the sunset and simply cannot afford the bikes. It may seem simple, but we believe a bicycle is not only a catalyst to better health, but that something as simple as a bike builds community inclusiveness, friendships, opportunities and over all happiness. In working through Rotary, we insure that 100% of all monies raised go directly to the purchase of the bicycles and we can ensure they get in the right hands in partnering with the Carlsbad Christmas Bureau for distribution to those in need. Through small fund raisers at local restaurants throughout the year, individual donations, and the proceeds from the Carlsbad Hi Noon Rotary’s Carlsbad Brewfest each year we get closer to delivering the 200+ bikes( with Helmet & Lock) that are needed each year in our community. Last year nearly 70 Bikes were delivered , and this year we are pushing for over 100. We hope you will sponsor a bike or multiple bikes for $100 each…..Let’s Ride together!!!!!
